Description
The lack of a bench or any kind of bus shelter forces public transportation users to stand or sit in building entryways in the rain and on hot days. This makes it difficult for workers in the buildings to get in and out. There is a bus shelter with bench right across Chapel Street (on the north side) that is scheduled to be moved. The shelter and bench could be re-used on the south side of the street.

Thanks for posting this Tim. We have had a number of problems with bus goers waiting in the lobby or blocking the exits so that we can not leave the building. The litter that is left behind is also a huge problem.
CT Transit needs to take responsibility for this location as well as the city.

The fine folks at SeeClickFix (whose HQ is in the building) have organized the community-purchase of two cardboard benches from local start-up business Chairigami. In all weather but rain, the benches give people waiting for the bus a place to sit. The landlord, Olympia Properties, allows SCF to store the benches in the building lobby in the off-hours (thanks, OP).
Not a perfect solution, but good enough for Gov 2.0 work. SeeClickFixed.
