Please share some educational info...wondering who is responsible for broken up sidewalks in a residential area? My neighbors have said in the past that the property owner is responsible for repairs. Really wondering as in recent years there have been 2 neighborhood-wide canvassing campaigns to list broken sidewalks. In recent weeks I've noticed numerous reports on Click-fix for broken/uneven sidewalks.Confusing messages around the neighborhood. Please answer with details for the benefit of educating property owners. Thank You.
Hi Cdca, I asked for anyone, City of Lansing staff or a knowledgeable resident to fill us in on who is expected to repair sidewalks. As I said above, I've been told for years repairs to broken sidewalks are the property owners responsibility. It may not make sense to wait for a repair if it is the property owners are expected to do this. Maybe call the city and ask?
Hi Jan, Hi Cdca. I'm not an expert but there are several uneven sidewalks around. What ways can you be more specific in description, measurement, photo that could inform and advise readers (500+ views to date) of the urgency or need at this one location?
There is about a 4 inch heave. Over a year ago there was a police issue down the street and the officer had to park by my house. As he ran to the emergency he tripped on this heave. I have been reporting this since 2014 so you would think if Public Service actual read See Click Fix, they would have come out and look at it
Hello, I have reported the issue and it will be inspected by the City when the weather warms up, as soon as possible. In the future, for a faster response, please call 483-4455 to report a sidewalk problem. Thanks!
