Description
Public works was towing cars and there were NO paper signs posted on the trees in the area of 813-817 State. The signs that were posted on the street (below and above 813-817) were not posted until late Thursday. Residents need a minimum of 24 hours or more notice.

Towing on Canner b/w Livingston and Orange on 9/16 without notice as well. Only one sign was posted on the entire block and it was at the very end of the Livingston/Canner intersection out of view from the majority of residents in the area. Many cars were present at time of towing.

the city needs to put up permanent signs, end of story. kids steal the signs for fun, who knows, maybe the kids work for the tow truckers who work for $$$Mayor John$$$

My car was towed from Canner Street at Whitney on Friday 9/16. I too did not see any signs when I came home from work on Thursday night or when I left for work at 8:30am on Friday. My car was towed at 11:52am on Friday. I am appealing the ticket by filling out the form found here http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/trafficparking/Contest.asp.

East Rock residents petitioned to have the permanent signs removed a few years ago because they couldn't remember to read them like everyone else.
still a bummer, retrojayne.

I don't think that's what happened. The permanent signs were removed so that the City would have the flexibility to sweep streets when they needed sweeping and not sweep streets when they didn't need sweeping.
A laudable goal but the City's done an @#$% poor job of notifying residents when sweeping will take place. And stapling things to trees is totally counter productive. I keep meaning to post a picture of my poor sad scarred red maple.
