Damage was sustained to the main sanitary sewer line during the August Hurricanes. The pump is bypassing the sewage through that section of line and is a neccessity in order to keep the sewage flowing. City employees monitor the pump operation consistantly, and the project has gone out to bid for repair and will be awarded once the common council approves funding. This is a deep line and shoring of the street is necessary for safe repair, and to keep motorists safe as well. There is always more to it than what meets the eye.
