Description
I am a 54 year resident and taxpayer of the County and 20 yr resident of St Petersburg. For the first time in those many years that I have used the brush site (Site 2) after dumping my trailer full of brush I was stopped by the site monitor who was very rude in front of my 9yr old child and said I could not leave with the 4 pieces of oak I wanted to recycle for firewood. She said the policy was that I could not take the wood like I had done many many times over the years. I asked for the policy and she was not able to provide it. She then called her supervisor who also could not quote the actual policy reference. It's also not displayed on any of the site's signage. I used my phone to go to the brush site on stpete.org and looked through everything and could not find any such policy. She then said I was going to get a ticket and could not tell me how much the fine would be or what policy I was violating to incur such a fine. I said OK, well if I'm getting fined anyway I will pack up the wood that she removed from my trailer minus the one that was really heavy. She blocked me from getting the remaining two to put back in my trailer and said I am going to be banned for life from the brush site. This is the first time on 54 years in Pinellas County that I have ever been treated poorly and everyone else I've encountered at that site has always been a sincere pleasure to encounter. As you can see from the photo I put all the logs by the fence out of the way and took none with me as she was riding her power trip. I just can't understand the logic considering I pay for this service and I can get unlimited mulch back from the site for free at any time. I sincerely thought I was saving the city/county some effort. She rudely told me to go off to Publix and buy my firewood there which is obviously obscenely expensive.
