Aren't any of the residents on this street able to shovel out the hydrant? I would think it would be worth the effort if someone's house was on fire. What happened to looking out for your neighbors?
I just drove from Wakefield thur Melrose into Malden. As soon as I hit Washington St. in Malden, the roads are awful!! They are snow covered all the way to Florence St. This winter, Malden has not done enough to keep the roads safe. On Sunday, a plow came down Linden Ave. one time, that was it. The corner of Linden Ave going onto Mountain Ave is extremely dangerous. I want those mounds of snow taken away. You can not see either way if a car is coming down the street. One of these days, I am going to get into an accident.
I agree with Janis about the streets in Malden. What is the city doing with our tax dollars? How can every other community dig out except Malden? I'd like to know if anyone in city governance is monitoring the contractors who are charged with keeping our streets clean. If contractors continue to do such a bad job of plowing the streets, why are they still working for the City of Malden receiving tax payer money? I'm not talking about tiny secondary roads, either. Drive down Commercial, Clifton, or Summer streets and you'll see how badly the roads are plowed and treated. Why or how is this acceptable?
