Description
due to the overflow of trash we sometimes have to use the blue cans to put our regular trash in due to the brown cans being much smaller in size...we leave the lids ope to show that it is trash but for 3 weeks in a row the garbage men refuse to dump it....on may 31, we had 2 blue cans of trash....they dumped one and left the other one full of trash....it would be greatly appreciated if we could have that trash picked up ASAP.....we are trying to keep the area free of trash.....

Just an FYI, the Department of Public Works is no longer allowed to dump the blue bins if they are full of trash. You will need to bag the trash in the blue bins and place it beside (or in) the brown bins for your next pickup. This will fix the current issue of trash overflowing.
But have you looked at the new list of items that the City now recycles? There's a good chance that more of your "trash" can now be recycled, and those items should be placed in the blue bin. Paper (envelopes, newspapers, flyers, books, etc), plastic, glass, aluminum, etc. are just some of the items that the City recycles. More information is here:

You can also request additional brown toters from Public Works - call 203-946-7700. But until you get the extra toters, if your blue toters aren't full, your should place BAGGED trash in it unitl you pull them to the curb - then take them out and place them either on top of the brown toters or next to them.
Since I started recycling, it actually leaves me more room in my trash can for 'garbage'. A little more work to recycle but if that's what we gotta do, then that's what we gotta do.
