Description
I reported this once before and DPW 'closed' the issue, but it's not repaired.
This street is hammered in this area. Dug up and saw cut twice, and repaired very poorly.
The outside contractor who preformed the work should be called back to remedy at THEIR cost, not the taxpayer.

Thank you for your interest in the utility cutting and patching that has happened at this location. It is unfortunate to have had two utility cuts in such close proximity, and only a few years after the street was repaved. DPW does have excavation permits that the utility companies must apply for to complete their work, and while we do not have much say where they locate we are able to control how the street is repaired. We also require a 3 year warranty on their work so that if a utility cut fails they are required to replace it. DPW has recently inspected this patch as a result of this request, and will do so again closer to the 3 year mark for this patch to ensure the Contractor’s work is still intact prior to DPW taking ownership for it.
Ultimately utility companies have a legal right to locate within the public right of way so we have measures in place to try to keep the maintenance of those patches on the contractor and not residents until we know that it is performing as needed.

Thank you for finally replying after 3 months.
I'm not sure your point here. It sounds like the City does have levers in place to go back to an outside contractor and have them repair the street to a certain level of standards. But in this particular case, why are you not holding them to that standard? This particular repair is not good, and there is a noticeable bump. it should be smooth.
Residents such as myself are fine with outside contractors using the City's streets for cabling, repairs, etc.. that's what progression is all about. But hold them to fixing the streets and returning them to 'smooth'. A repair should not result in a big bump for the next 3-5 years.
This issue is not closed in my opinion unless DPW asks this contractor to come back and repair this area.
Will DPW be doing so?

Powereli,
I need to clarify that "Holt" is not the same person as Ned Holt. Ned Holt the building official is a "verified official". The citizen you are addressing is a "registered user" and not a city official. Next to each user's login name the information in parentheses will let you know if you are talking to a city official or not.
