Description

The traffic signal on US Route 9, as it crosses Cherry Choke & Old Post Roads, just north of Northway Exit 13, is too short in its yellow timing, and has no "all-way red" setting (red light shown to all directions for a few seconds for safety).

Route 9 has a 55 mph speed limit, but the light goes from yellow to red much too quickly to stop in time (even on dry pavement, not to mention in wet or snowy weather), even if going slower than the limit.

The yellow light is about 5 seconds long, which means one travels over 400 feet in that time, at 55 mph.
