Description

Anyone know why there is a mini-storage container on the public beach/South End free public camping area just South of the Barge Canal?
Also, a section of fence separating the above public camping area has been removed that protects the RR right-of-way. Probably to provide easier access to the woods for the campers. Easier than walking ALL the way to Cumberland Farms when a bathroom is needed I'm sure.

Bill, I underatand there is a PC approach to removing illegal campsites. However, when is enough enough and as a tax paying citizen when am Igoing to see this campsite removed by the City?

The clean-up of this site is scheduled for this Wednesday. Parks has arranged for a vendor to provide rentals at the site in order to deter negative behavior. That vendor will care for the POD and it's contents.

Beach is being used for recreation, vendor was notified to cover graffiti.

And did the vendor indicate they would repair the fence that was damaged when the container was placed on site?

The Parks Dept used out loader to transport the container and the fence was not damaged in that process. The fence that separates Blodgetts Oven property is owned by Blodgett Oven, it is not a City fence. It's been that way for years and Blodgett has been notified.

It's the fence that separates the bike path from the railroad tracks that was damaged, not the Blodgett fence. Maybe the loader operater needed a bit more room to get the container in place.

That was caused by the transient foot traffic from interior Blodgett campsite to the beach, and yes, it is on our list to repair.
