Description
Extreme traffic build up is causing inconsiderate drivers to merge onto Pines & before 196th Avenue. We need police to issue tickets and have the traffic lights adjusted to allow the segment from 188th to 200th Avenue to move quicker.

So many rude drivers using the turn lanes as their avenue to get to the front of the line. Many of them headed to the high school. It's a learned behavior and without a barrier to keep them from doing it they will continue. Backs up traffic and slows progress for those patiently waiting to get to their destination.
Suggest the city add some flexible poles as they have in certain areas throughout the city. Cops being there a day or two is fine but long term it's not a solution.

This if from another resident here. It is a cut and paste for Miramar.
With school back in session so is the morning traffic. Of particular concern is Pines Blvd and 196th. Many drivers traveling west bound on Pines Blvd are using the double turning lanes at 196th to bypass all the patient drivers. These drivers that use the double turning lanes are then crossing over the solid white line as they approach 196th cutting into the lane that continues straight on Pines Blvd. This activity is making a bad traffic problem worst and these aggressive law breaking drivers are creating a hostile intersection with their lawbreaking activity.
I know the police have much better things to do than to sit at an intersection so people follow the law and common courtesy but it seems to me this is warranted. After the traffic normalizes over the coming weeks, this problem should go away just like it did last year.
I imagine the police are already aware of the issue but not for sure. Is there a process to notify police and request police assistance? The issue only seems to happen from just before 7am to about 8am.

Yesterday morning, Sept. 7th around 7:15 a.m., I saw three different Pembroke Pines police officers at the intersection of Pines and 196th Ave. One was issuing a ticket to a person who had moved into the intersection to head west, blocking all lanes of traffic when the lights changed. I could tell that the person was being issued a ticket. Another officer was parked on the same side of the street, but was just chatting with the other officer. I wish he would have been in the north bound center median lane where many people try to cut into the one turning lane to head east. A third police car was in the turning lane on the east side of the intersection and ended up just making a U-turn. Not sure where that officer went. As I drove past the officers, I rolled down my window and thanked them for helping out. They seemed to appreciate my gesture. This morning...no police officers in sight at the worst intersection on Pines in the a.m. Sgt. Baker, please keep this issue of terrible traffic and traffic light synchronization open. Thanks
