Description

Sir/Ma'am,

I moved in to my home in 2006. At that time, I was told there would be nothing built behind my home due to a greenbelt/greenway. It was one of the selling points for the home. Since then, a park, splash pad, restroom, and pavilion have been built. Each addition brought increasing issues for the residents who live by the park. The park was turned over to the city. Therefore, it is now a public park which has brought about diverse visitors. I am required to keep my pets from becoming a nuisance to fellow residents as well as the public. The task has not been easy. Park visitors tend to taunt and tease my pets. They will walk the fenceline, play activities by the fences, allow their pets to run off of leashes, or allow their children to approach the fences. There is a large open field for activities. Yet, visitors tend to conduct activities along the fences. The residents on either side of the park have had issues. The times I have confronted the individuals, I would be the one deemed inconsiderate. I have notified the Moore Police Department on numerous ocassions. In the time it takes the Police to respond, the individuals have already left the area. I do not blame the Police Department for that as I understand it is a lower priority for everything they have to deal with. I contacted Moore Parks & Recreation and the response I received was to notify the Police Department. I know there is no use in wasting the Police Department's or my time in calling knowing there will be no resolution. (I have made a report about three young males with what appeared to be a gun/pistol at the pavilion. There was no Police response.) I am even more concerned as there has been consideration of a sports field in the lot across from the park. I realize there are benefits to city parks. However, I also feel the residents who reside in the area should also be considered.
