Our Street Division was able to look at the intersection yesterday and determined the following:
Muegge Corridor Timing Scheme:
During the week M-F: run 3 timing plans
6:30 to 9 – 100s cycle
9 to 11 – signals run free
11 to 2:30 – 90s cycle
2:30 to 7 – 120s cycle
7 to 6:30 – signals run free
Saturday and Sunday – signals run free all day
During the timing plans shown above, Treetop left turn has about 20% to 25% of the overall cycle limit meaning there is a chance depending when you hit the cycle, an individual could wait up to 90s to turn left. Most of the time that is not the case.
Muegge is coordinated from Mexico Rd to Old Hwy 94. Long stretch with driveways and vertical curves. Vehicles tend to separate as they move down the corridor in which the longer cycle lengths help to get everyone all the way down the corridor. Individuals on the side streets have to wait but once on Muegge mostly greens.
At Treetop, most of the time (98%) everyone in the left turn lane clears on every cycle, not leaving anyone to have to sit through another cycle.
We are going to go ahead and close this issue, with the caveat that we are still going to be having our Police Department monitor for stop light violations in the area. Thank you for reporting this and helping to make our city better!
