Description
The City needs to hurry up and install a traffic light at this intersection and remove the big traffic cones that make it very difficult to see incoming traffic. This intersection is a magnet for near misses, especially with so many speeding, reckless drivers in this area.

The light was originally planned for Singleleaf with Neuse Crossing becoming a right turn only which would make Neuse Crossing the main entrance. Neuse Crossing is not set up to handle that much traffic. We complained. They came back at the next public meeting with the final plan which included a left hand turn out of Neuse Crossing into a designated turn lane (only need to worry about the traffic coming off of 401). But with that they removed the light. We complained - but doesnt matter.
The map is on the website: https://www.raleighnc.gov/projects/content/PWksDesignConst/Articles/MitchellMillWidening.html
They were also supposed to even out the hills so we could see better trying to get across multiple lanes of traffic but that is clearly not happening. Its going to be a mess. I go out of my way to exit on Forestville. Their plan was to reduce traffic congestion - it will work because people are going to stop using the road when they can. Forestville is starting to get too congested. There is a petition to add a turn lane at the Buffalo road light.

The site was visited this morning to investigate the Traffic Visual Obstruction at the Neuse Crossing Drive/Mitchell Mill intersection. The traffic phasing plan has part of the widening along the south side of Mitchell Mill Road barreled off. Upon investigation, it was determined that the numerous barrels did cause a degree of visual obstruction. The barrels have been switched out with skinny cones. The stop sign has been moved from the existing radius of Neuse Crossing Drive further onto Mitchell Mill Road where the temporary lane configuration is now located. See attached pictures.
It should be noted that there will be no stop light at this intersection as indicated in the comment section. It will be a right turn only out of Neuse Crossing Drive onto Mitchell Mill Road upon project completion (median). The comment addressing this issue has a link to the project plan showing the final roadway configuration.
