Description
Drivers speed through Fairview to cut through the neighborhood. You can't walk down the street without someone speeding on this road that because if the hills and curves has limited visibility. Have cops patrol or put up speed limit signs big enough for drivers to see.

These are issues that should also be directed to your ward alderman. That person has access to all the city offices and departments, and in the interest of the city and their ward they can bring that problem to their attention.
Is your alderman aware of the problem? An email with a link to your post to seeclickfix should convey your concerns quickly.

Speeding has been a big issue, not only for Fairview, but for the residents along Lucas Ave.
(heck, just about everywhere)
I will continue to bring it to the attention of the police dept.

And there are no sidewalks for pedestrians. So we HAVE to walk in the road. I have almost been hit numerous times by people driving extremely fast on Fairview & in the neighborhood. My favorite is when they are talking on their cell phones so they don't even notice me. They will even speed by me if I'm at my mailbox or in front of my house. I am afraid to get my mail! Please enforce speed limit!!!

Speeding within the city and the surrounding area is a huge problem. The only thing that seems to be done is for police to enforce traffic law but that rarely does anything to curb the behavior. In reality all that needs to be done is for drivers to learn some driving etiquette & have respect for the roadway.

I live right around the corner from you and we have the same passerby's. We are not on or near Broadway and I think people are forgetting that we are not in the middle of the city of Kingston. We are on the outskirts near the boarder....That is the key to our focus. We are out of the mid city or major traffic route, but yet our streets are used as a shortcut to Lucas avenue or hurley ave. I live closer to Hurley ave, but you may be closer to Lucas Ave.
***The problem ultimately is that our city police officers are overworked & they are extremely understaffed***
