Description
There are Multiple, Huge potholes that are on the Eastbound lane of W 39th street, West of Cambridge making it highly dangerous to life and property. They have been "patched multiple times only to be made worse when street is plowed. Patch comes up along with more of the road. This road needs to be REPLACED not patched.

this street most definitely needs to be REPAVED and not just patched up! it's ridiculous how bad this street is and yet, it still hasn't been fixed. put our tax dollars to good use and fix it already!!!

Here we go again! They "patched the street, but is it a smooth patch ...@#$% nah!! It is now a bumpy road! Of course, this will change in the winter when the plows dig up even more of the street! Why is it other streets can be repaved and there is hardly anything wrong with them, yet ours gets only unsitely patched? This is NOT helping the value of our homes in this neighborhood! We pay our taxes just as much as the others ...Why don't we count????

Dear Councilman Snodgrass,
I live on the 2700 block of W. 39th St. in Lorain, which is in your district, and our road is in dire need of repair. In fact, the potholes are so bad that we can only drive on one side of the road in certain portions, and they collect small ponds of water.
About two or three summers ago, the 2600 block was completely repaved although it was nowhere near as bad as the 2700 block, and yet our road continues to deteriorate.
As a tax paying and voting citizen, I’m angered by the lack of notice and action! Occasionally city workers will come by and make a pathetic attempt to “patch” the holes by shoveling loose asphalt into the potholes with no flattening, which may last for less than a week. This is a waste of city dollars not only in funds for materials but also in salary monies. All the time and money that has been spent on temporary fixes could have equated to a permanent solution and possibly saved the city some money! We don’t need, or want, another patch job so please save us further insult. Our road needs to be repaved before we have no road left to repave. It certainly cannot last another winter!
I appreciate your cooperation and assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Reuben Nodal

well put and to the point! i couldn't have said it any better mr. nodal. maybe they will FINALLY take some notice of this issue and do something other than the pitiful patch-jobs(i.e. PAVE THE ROAD!!!). they also paved the 2500 block of w. 37th st. and also the 4000 block of miami ave. last summer. why is beyond me! they weren't anywhere near the condition of our street. it is by far the worst. i think the pictures speak volumes for what a hazard the road has become! thanks for posting those.
keep us posted if you hear anything back from him.

I just spoke with State Senator Sue Morano’s office, and they informed me that ODOT advised them our street has been on the “repair list” for the last two years and is continuously ignored because we don’t have high traffic volume and lack of funding. They suggested we continue to petition the Mayor's office, as well as the city engineers/safe service directors. They further suggested we call for a forum with said officials as well as city council and ODOT reps.

what?! we don't have high traffic volume??? there are always cars going up and down our street! and i suppose the section of miami ave. that was re-paved last summer has TONS of traffic given it's a dead end street! this is so ridiculous. i'd be all for a forum!

....and the no money thing holds no ground either. with all the money they threw away on countless patch jobs, they could have re-paved the street by now!

Well, spring is here and as expected and predicted W 39th street is worse than ever. Can't say the snow plows did much much damage this year because they hardly ever plowed our street this winter. Retaliation from the city perhaps for speaking out about our street not being repaired properly? Call me stupid but why is it I can remember when a street was built correctly did not need to be repaired year after year. If in fact our street has so little traffic on it then why is it sooo torn up?? I am 53 years old and the street I grew up on was made of concrete and to this day it is still intact and has never been patched. Is this city unable to find a decent contractor that knows how to build a road without having to repair it in less than 12 months. I would love to sit on the board that decides who gets the job. I wonder if any of the contractors might be related to the city officials('attention relatives-lifetime job security"). Just some things that make you say ....Hmmmmm......

Finally This issue can be closed. The street has been replaced and to date it is holding up just fine. Thank you to all of those responsible for getting the job done and to assuring it was done correctly! Now what are the chances I will get my sidewalk replaced for the damage that was done to it during the street construction!?!?
