Thank you very much for reporting this issue. Unfortunately any items on or in the right of way of the railroad tracks is the responsibility of the California Northern Railroad Company. Please feel free to contact the Office Manager at 530.753.7826.
Well, I called the RR Co. to report. How depressing. They spend thousands of dollars a year cleaning up along the tracks, from Mini Drive to Sperry Mills, only to have the same thing happen over and over.
If people witness any illegal dumping, they need to call it in. Give the RR Co. a vehicle description and/or license plate.
It's too bad there couldn't be a collaborative effort with the City, Recology and RR Company to do a better job.
I wonder if putting up a sign that lets people know that Bulk Trash will pick up stuff like sofas and matresses from your house for FREE two times a year would help
Hi Kendra,
I don't think a sign would work. The no trespassing signs don't work and the dumping seems to be generated by either illegal hauling outfits or folks who are moving in/out of residences and toss stuff over the fence, including car parts and furniture. Those are instances that were related to me by the gentleman I spoke with from the Railroad Co.
It might help to include the Bulk Trash information in household garbage bills more often, but I doubt it would make much of an impact.
