Description

The re-paving over sewer work on MacArthur Blvd between Coolidge and Laurel streets is stunningly crappy. It has rendered the southbound bike lane completely unusable. The asphalt is sinking below the level of the original concrete road surface and has created a series of trenches both across traffic and along the road shoulder.

OAK 311 has received this issue. Your service request ID is #943566. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

I have mentioned this and previous post I totally agree with you it's a mess it's worse than what it was before East Bay mud decided to dig and make pools and then just throw crappie asphalt on there without thinking about the neighbors. Who live in the neighborhood who drive it everyday. I've mentioned before maybe East Bay mud should be held accountable to this that when they dig up holes they have to replace cement to Asphalt the concrete whatever it is that they dig up in a new safe complete manner. Sometimes I wonder which council person is in the pocket of East Bay mud being that they're allowed to do this

Thanks for the report. Due to the danger to cyclists, this issue is being submitted to Oakland as a "TOP 10" for immediate attention under an agreement with the Bike East Bay Hazard Elimination program.
