Description
The bike lane on LaSalle is like this from at least Grant to Franklin. Poor snow removal, freezing and refreezing, persistently speeding traffic, cars parking further from the curb, all lead to exceptionally unsafe biking in a dedicated bike lane for a considerable distance.

During the winter, protected bike lanes are plowed and treated to bare pavement. Unprotected bike lanes are plowed with the street but as winter sets in, parking encroaches due to the snow storage at the gutter. Bicyclist must share the travel lane as we are unable to completely plow the unprotected bike lane. This is the only level of service we can provide at this time. Blaisdell from Franklin to 40th St is a protected bike lane (currently private water breaks are impeding the lane). North of Franklin is not. As seen in the photo. We can not plow any closer to the parked cars.
