Description

The intersection of Oakland Ave and Bay Vista Ave is heavily trafficked by pedestrians due to the two bus stops on either side. However, there is no means for pedestrians to safely travel cross this intersection, between bus stops, because there is no crosswalk, stop sign, or signal. This creates a highly unsafe situation for pedestrians who wish to cross Oakland Ave or Bayo Vista Ave in order to reach or depart from either bus stop.

Compounding this unsafe scenario is the fact this this particular intersection is a blind turn on a heavily trafficked 30 mph street. Oncoming traffic cannot see around the corner. There is no stop sign or indication for drivers to slow down or look out for pedestrians. This intersection needs to be safer for pedestrians and drivers alike.

To make this intersection acceptably safe, there needs to be a stop sign and cross walk across Oakland Ave and Bayo Vista Ave. This would create connection a safe and marked path for pedestrians to travel, between bus stops, as well as warn drivers of potential pedestrians crossing the street.
