555 Long Wharf Drive New Haven, CT - Long Wharf

Cars driving on Long Wharf Dr often are driving 60+ MPH. Crossing the street is hazardous. If you are lucky enough for one car to stop the others flying around are a hazard, they don't even see you because they are on their phones either talking or texting. The street sign is NOT working. Please increase police presence and start issuing speeding and distracted driving tickets.

Sound School is back in session - and so is the speeding!! Open

Sea Street New Haven, CT - City Point

Sound School just started today and the parents, school busses, and city busses are already speeding down Sea Street. This is a residential neighborhood! Have tried talking to the principal who is not interested in resolving the problem - same thing every year.

  At the Nov. 16, 2011 meeting of the Hill South Management Team Jim Travers, Director of the Dept. of Transportation, Traffic & Parking, announced that his dept. was applying for a Community Development Block Grant to fund an initial traffic calming project for Howard Ave. (including the City Point portion, i.e. Lamberton St. to South Water St.). This would include repainting all pedestrian crosswalks at every intersection from Congress Ave. to S. Water St., adding 1 or 2 "Yield to Pedestrian" signs in the crosswalk in EVERY ONE of these intersections (Yeah!!!) AND adding a bike lane to each side of Howard Ave. from Congress Ave. to South Water St. (thereby effectively narrowing the automobile portion of Howard). He acknowledged that this was merely a preliminary step in traffic calming for our neighborhood, and that other elements could be added later, such as bump-outs at some intersections.

  City should install speed bumps. At the corner of Howard Ave. and Sea St. NO ONE STOPS at the stop signs with the blinking red light. Once on Howard Ave.Turning onto and coming from where the bridge is they put the petal to the metal. I guess they'll wait until someone gets killed crossing the street before they do anything. I also think if they close off Sea St. it will become much safer.

Political candidate signs on highway exit/entrance right of way Archived

Oak St Connector New Haven, CT 06519, USA - Long Wharf

Those mayoral candidate signs on the highway entrance/exit right of way are distracting and a real safety hazard. They need to come down NOW.

  There out of hand. Drive down some streets and you will see signs on utility poles (100 dollar offense by the way), vacant lots, public owned right of ways, heck even Walmart is voting for Kerekes. But I'm sure if the official responsible for ticketing and removing these signs did something, it would be the mayor pushing his agenda.

sound school students and parents need some sort or reminder not to speed,they forget this is a narrow residential street worse at dismissal with school buses added to the mix

  Three of our neighborhood cats have been run over and killed over the past year. We have complained at the school as well. There are also disabled, elderly and children who live on Sea St.

  An opportunity to fix these chronic problems! Next Wednesday, Jan. 26th, 2011 Mike Piscitelli and Jim Travers from the City's Traffic, Transportation and Parking Department and Douglas Haslauden and Mark Abraham from Safe Streets will meet with residents to discuss the pros and cons of the various traffic calming measures available for our neighborhood and to provide an overview of the Safe Streets program. TIME:
  5 pm: MEET ON THE NEW HOWARD AVE. BRIDGE over I-95 for a quick walking tour with city officials, where we residents can explain our specific concerns. THEN at 5:30 PM AT THE SOUND SCHOOL LIBRARY, 60 South Water Street, a meeting to discuss traffic-calming options that we can pursue. I hope to see many neighbors there!

dangerous 91 N merge Open

34 Onramp To 91 N New Haven, CT 00 - Long Wharf

On 34 when you go left to get on 91 N, there are 2 lanes. Then, out of nowhere, w/ NO signage, those 2 lanes become 1 and then w/in a second you are in the fast/left lane of 91, travelling at high speeds. If there is no traffic, fine, but several times, I ahve seen an aggressive driver come up out of nowhere, speeding (everyone speeds over 45 on 34, by the way - pls ticket to stop this!) and then when those 2 lanes go down to 1 w/o warning, there is sometimes a near collision. I think that some warning signage that at least says yield or rt lanes ends will help make this less dangerous, less of a liability, as drivers will know who has the rt of way. Bravo for the other recent 34 improvements, by the way!
