The open air drug market Open

2259 Old 6th Ave Troy, NY - Troy

The open air drug market remains open and it is florishing. The crack monsters are showing up in good numbers for the dealers, smoking crack urinating in the shadows. Along with the trash tlrucks squeezing who knows what onto 6th ave the two smells could be used in a form of chemical warfare. Lets not forget the prostitutes, gambling and grabage from the poor diet of potato chips soda, bottles and submarine wraps and the cigar wrappers and inerts spewed all along the street HELP the few homeowners left who care.   Would be nice also on 6th ave, a main st, well traveled,you don't have the man power then get camera power.at least it would record,tried of picking up after drug partys that happen late at night ,and don't forget the hamburger pies,they take the tabacco out and replace it with drugs.and pee in the alleys of homes.Sometime needs to be done

Sewage overflow from cso manhole by river Archived

It looks like (and smells like!) the sewer was overflowing from a manhole after heavy rains. The manhole is partially hidden by a pile of brush, but looks like there had been flow from under the cover and we have noticed strong odor (more so yesterday)

  the sewer department was there on Wednesday 7-6-11 and cleaned/jetted manhole as soon as we were notified of this problem. All Fixed.

Troy recently fixed two out of the three...of course leaving the worse one untouched. The one still requiring repair sits in the crosswalk and is a tripping hazard. Smells like future lawsuit.

  There's a very DEEP sewer cover impression right on Hoosick street heading out of troy and on to alternate 7... just before the bridge. I've seen many motorcycles hit this DEEP hole and and almost crash. I have hit it myself with my scooter. It is scary and needs to be fixed before someone gets killed.

  Is the DPW ever going to fix these sewer covers or will they wait until a motorcyclist hits one, looses control, crashes and dies???
  
  The dead cyclists families lawyer will have a field-day when he/she finds this website and sees that people have been complaining about these sewer covers for months but DPW choose to do nothing.

  finally infilled last cover a few weeks ago...very slow process..about a year to complete since calling DPW....but finally resolved. Hope no one was hurt during the year process.

I think they are doing crack back there, every time I walk out the back of the parking lot along side the church i see some homeless guy peeing outside and it smells like crack

Very smelly garbage trucks Open

2307 12th St Troy, NY - Troy

Ok ok, I know garbage trucks arent supposed to smell nice but what's the deal with Troys garbage trucks?!

Once a week they drive by and pick up the trash. We appreciate the trash pick up but the horrible smelling rotten liquid that leaks out of the truck as it drives down the street is really really bad!

It smells like baby vomit that's been left in the sun for a day.

The smell lingers litterally for days. The smell is worse than if a skunk were hit in the road in front of our house.

Do the garbage trucks ever get pressure washed inside and cleaned?

I have to assume that cleaing the inside of the trucks would be part of the maintainance schedule... yet, as bad as it smells, I can't imagine the trucks are EVER cleaned.

PLEASE PRSSURE WASH AND DISINFECT THE TRUCKS. YOU'RE MAKING THE CITY STINK!

  If the garbage stinks that is thrown into the truck, that is what makes the truck stink. If you have left over food, keep it in the freezer till time to put the trash to the curb, Then it won't stink so much.
  
  Baby diapers and cat litter don't help.
  
  Almost All the stink goes away when the temperatures drop.
  
  Do you think the trash men like smelling all this stuff either?
  It is a good day for the trash men when they have a cold and can't smell the stink. ;)
  
  I drove trash truck for many years, and hated the summer.

Storm drain smells of raw sewage Open

This grate has had city workers fussing with it at least twice a year for years. At least a couple of months of this past summer, it was dug up, and there were traffic cones for months. Despite all this, it constantly stinks of raw sewage, and has as long as I've lived in the neighborhood. I have to assume there's something leaking from the municipal sewage lines into the stormdrains at this location, and I hate to think of the sanitary conditions whereever those drains let out!

  It is a dirty little secret that many of the old houses in these old industrial cities do indeed dump their raw sewage into the storm drain system, which ends up in the Hudson River, untreated. Just walk around outside some morning between 7 and 8, when the air is still, and you will be in for a surprise. Your chances of getting it identified, let alone fixed, are slim. Neither the city nor the homeowner wants the headache. I used to live next to one, so I know how gross it can be. I feel sorry for the fish.
