the paved sidewalk running along the south side of Western boulevard between varsity drive and Dan Allen drive. Tree growth has made it dangerous for people to ride bicycles or scooters along the sidewalk. please send a crew to cut these back.

If it weren't for these, this path would be much safer as the commuter does not have to go against traffic on fFaucet drive.

a sinkhole has developed in the berm between the sidewalk and the curb at 6213 big Sandy drive. This has become a pedestrian hazard. it seems to be related to a water supply line to the house of 62 11 big Sandy drive. It is also 5 ft west of a settling storm drain which I reported in April.

3/18/2020 (today) around 12:20 I noticed a 2-gallon gas container on Falls of the Neuse on its side with gasoline leaking into the catch basin at the intersection of FotN and Harps Mill Road. Here is the correct link.

I waved down a police officer and told him about it and he seemed to go look at it. I drove on. This is just a followup to be sure you know you had a gallon of gas spill into your storm drain pipe today.

the driveway for WRAL soccer fields exiting onto Perry Creek Road is a hazard for the police officers who directs traffic. I drive by here a lot and I believe that it is only a matter of time before an officer stopping traffic is injured. I request that you consider adding a stoplight at this driveway exit which would be on flash most of the time, but would have a controller box over to the side that an officer could use to change the signal during times of high volume exiting the soccer park. thus the officer can direct the traffic without standing in the middle of Perry Creek Road. At night.

Odor of raw sewage and what appears to be raw sewage on The Greenway just east off the WRAL soccer park. In fact there are acres of standing water in this vicinity in the floodplain of the Neuse River but the sewage on the greenway is the major concern.

After I posted this, I spoke with a bicyclist who also had to turn around there. He told me he was there this past Thursday and there was no standing water or sewage spilled. So now I think this happened Saturday when the Corps released a large flow from Falls Lake. Perhaps it inundated the sewer line that runs along the river. The photo of the sewage is about 100 feet downstream from a manhole (and the 6 1/2 mile marker).

3000 Hillsborough Street Raleigh, North Carolina - Wade

When a signalized intersection is under control of a flagman during construction projects, please have someone set the signal to flash in all directions.

Last night at approximately 8:45 PM I was on Friendly Drive approaching Hillsborough Street. From a distance of 200 feet I could see that the light was green, so I proceeded towards the intersection to try to make the light. When I got closer I was astonished to see a man standing in the middle of the intersection holding up a hand-held stop sign. He saw me coming and put up his hand emphasizing that my movement had to stop. This person was clearly employed by the contractor doing the construction work, so his instructions took priority over the stop light.

As I sat there waiting for my turn to move, I also observed traffic operations. It was clear that the signal being active was confusing most drivers as well as pedestrians. At one point a pedestrian crossed Hillsborough Street during a DixieTrail/Friendly Drive green cycle As She Was Taught To Do, although the flagman had put the intersection state into one in which Hillsborough street traffic was suppose to move through the intersection. It was the alertness of the driver that would have hit her that saved her from being hit. Yet she never appeared to have any awareness of what happened. But this pedestrian was not the only person who was confused. I observed one driver on Hillsborough Street refuse to obey the flagger's directions to proceed through the intersection because the Hillsborough-facing stop light was red.

Clearly this is a liability for the city. Please put a priority on addressing this with the contractor and the supervising engineer for the sake of the public's safety.

Please complete the pavement marking on Leesville Road at the intersection with Hickory Grove Church Road as depicted on sheet PMP-5 of the project plans.  The the westbound exclusive right lane is missing a right arrow, which should be added.  The double-left turn from southbound HGCR onto eastbound Leesville Road is missing turning guide stripes.  (Designated TD on the plans.)  The same holds true for northbound Leesville Road (-Y9-) turning left onto eastbound New Leesville Road.

Note, I saw a car almost hit a bicyclist at this intersection Monday because the turning guide stripes are missing and the bicyclist unknowingly drifted into the cars path.

Please consider whether the property owner's fence is too close to the existing right-of-way lines. Everyone making a left turn from Neuse Wood Drive onto Wild Wood Forest Drive has to pull up beyond the stop bar and into the crosswalk to see far enough to make the turn. When the vehicle is in the crosswalk, it is especially dangerous for pedestrians since they have to decide whether to walk in front of the turning car or behind it. Many of these pedestrians a children because the location is /very/ close to Wild Wood Forest Elementary School. The fence is an inconvenience, but it is also probably a hazard. - Paul Schrum, PE (018172)
