The location is at West Avenue and Wingate Street which contains multiple pedestrian crossings signs for student safety on the campus of SEBTS. There are two damaged signs. (1) One sign was severely damaged ripping off the signage on one side, and cracking the information on the other side. (2) Another sign was ripped off at the base and the original sign is completely missing.

There is a fallen tree in the greenway between 546 Elm Avenue and Deacons Ridge Street. It is located on the south side of Elm Street. The tree is at a 45 degree angle, partially fallen. I am concerned that it could fall on a pedestrian on the sidewalk if it completely falls on to Elm Street.

This photo views the backyard of 524 Elm Avenue facing southeast. To the left of the green electric box is a sapling Elm tree planted in 2022 to replace a huge Maple tree that had an unsafe split trunk. To the left of the green electric box in the center of the photo, there is a mound of mulch. In 2020, the Town of Wake Forest, Forestry Department, promised to plant a tree in that mound of mulch, but it never happened. Her is the whole story concerning that mound: (2013) a Maple tree on that mound was hit by lightning; (2018) after half surviving with limited foliage, I reported the dying Maple tree; (2019) the Forestry Department removed the old tree, planted a weak white flower tree that dried up in 9 months from the heat, after another case opened by me, the Forestry Department removed the dry sapling,(2020) the Forestry Department closed the case, left the much mound, stating in the case that they would plant something in the next planting season. After 2 or 3 years, they never returned to plant something on that mound. Can you plant a Flowering Magnolia there like the one that you planted on the outside perimeter of the round-a-bout?

The stair-step barrier wall along the sidewalk on the north side of Elm Street, directly across from the Fire Department, has been damaged possibly by vandalism. It appears that someone lifted one of the stair-steps, the large gravel inside the wall has spilled on the sidewalk.

Avondale Townhomes maple tree on parkway of Town of Wake Forest is nearly ready to split in two sections. If this occurs, it will cause critical damage to 6 cars and break windows on the townhome. It is only recently that I have noticed this crack in the tree splitting apart further.

Please note that I am a Tree Stewart of the Town of Wake Forest. Also, I am an amateur arborist.

Please have this tree checked immediately. I have also notified the HOA of Avondale Townhomes, PPM. I am a resident of Avondale Townhomes.

There is two sink-holes on Elm Street, east of the railroad tracks. It may be that the new building construction and the removal of earth, on the south side of Elm Street, caused these sink holes. I am concerned that the sink holes could creep toward the railroad and eventually cause the railroad track to sink, which would be an even more hazardous situation. Engineers from the Town of Wake Forest and from the railroad, probably should investigate this. Delay in repairs could cause a very serious accident.

This Area Light has been out for a few months. It is located directly above a community trash bin area. To have this light out, creates an unsafe security issue at night.

This section of Wingate Street which is located between North Avenue and Durham Road has multiple problems. First, it is a safety hazard because it is stretches through the middle of a college campus with a high volume of student traffic; established in 1834, the automobile traffic has long ago superceded the safety of students. Second, the road is long overdue for repaving; the cement pavement needs to be roughed and then given an asphalt surface. Third, the Double-Yellow (no passing) center lines are worn away; cars are constantly crossing over their designated lane into the on-coming traffic. Fourth, cars are parking on the east side of the road, but the parking spaces are not clearly marked, so cars are often poking out into the north bound lane of traffic. Fifth, the Speed Limit should be lowered to 15 MPH instead of the 25 MPH, because it runs through the middle of a college campus (very similar to a Mall Parking Lot). Sixth, during the Summer session, the YMCA is allowed to park a full-sized school bus in a circular area along the road, and this seriously obstructs the visibility of the YMCA youth and the college students, another serious safety issue.

It is my opinion that this road needs to be re-engineered by the highway department (state, county, or local town) whoever is responsible, so that the safety of the YMCA youth and SEBTS college students becomes a top priority.

I have lived in the Town of Wake Forest for 10 years. I drive through this section of road a minimum of 4 times a day. My familiarity makes me very aware of the hazard that is presented by this section of road.

Thank you for your assistance with my request.
