  • 1150 Kalamazoo Street East Lansing, Michigan - East Lansing
The bike lane markings along Kalamazoo in this vicinity need redoing after all the construction over the last year or so destroyed them.
  • 600 East Kalamazoo Street Lansing Michigan - Lansing
The brand new bike lane on Kalamazoo and other pavement markings here have been badly damaged by construction equipment presumably. Needs to be redone.
  • 4678-4714 Van Atta Road Meridian charter Township, Michigan - Okemos
The brush along this part of Van Atta is back into the roadway similar to last year. It really needs to be cut way back so it's not hitting larger vehicles as they drive down the road, even bicyclists.
  • South Lansing Pathway Lansing, Michigan - Lansing
Just rode the S. Lansing Pathway this evening and see that the crew put the reflective material on the bollards at the RR crossing here on the wrong sides so they're worthless. Was going to try rotate the bollards in the holes but they're rectangular so that wasn't possible. These need to be redone properly and they should also be painted yellow like the bollards on the Sycamore Creek Trail just 1/3 mi. to the east so that people without headlights might detect them at night and avoid crashing into them.
  • 1659 Raby Road Meridian charter Township, Michigan - Haslett
There's a large pile of sand that has accumulated where the pathway intersects the drive into/ out of the Haslett Vlg Square and at least one person has crashed on it that I know of personally. Needs to be swept clean to prevent more crashes.
  • 809 Piper Road Meridian charter Township, Michigan - Okemos
East-bound lane of Piper Rd. near Van Atta Rd. intersection (maybe 300-400 ft. east) has been gone for years. Short video shows how bad it is now: https://youtu.be/tILYeSobSdg
  • 4555-4577 Van Atta Road Meridian charter Township, Michigan - Okemos
The south-bound lane on Van Atta as you approach Grand River Ave. has deteriorated over the past 10 yrs. to the point where it's only about 6 ft. of usable road. See photo taken this morning. My bike is less than 5 ft. long.
  • 4678 Van Atta Road Meridian Charter Township Michigan - Okemos
These potholes are on the north side of the blind hill in the north-bound lane. If there's oncoming traffic cars and bikes are forced to hit the potholes which can damage their wheels or cause a crash. These have been here for over a year now w/out repair and have gotten a LOT bigger and cover more of the travel lane. Main photo is from this evening while walking my dogs.
  • 5435 Van Atta Road Meridian charter Township, Michigan - Haslett
The north and south bound lanes of Van Atta Rd. from near Tihart where the asphalt begins/ends all the way to Haslett Rd. is in awful condition. There are signs of some potholes being filled but there are a huge number remaining that haven't been filled which cause vehicles to swerve all over the road to avoid them. Bicyclists are especially in danger.
Here's a video I shot just north of the Tihart intersection:

  • 955-989 Haslett Road Meridian charter Township, Michigan - Haslett
There are many very deep potholes right in the bike lane on the corner of Haslett Rd. in the east-bound lane right where motorists tend to drift into the bike lane as they round the corner and are speeding up as the speed limit changes near here. If a bicyclist were to crash in the bike lane their body would be thrown out into the road and possibly run over. Please repair this before this happens to some unfortunate rider.
  • 1965 Barry Rd Williamston, MI 48895, USA - Ingham County
Barry Rd. between Lounsberry Rd. and Williamston Rd. has developed some incredibly awful potholes that resemble eruptions with huge chunks of asphalt large enough to damage vehicles driving over them. The worst are in the east bound lane. Too bad the repaving work last year stopped at Lounsberry.
  • 2172-2188 Kinawa Dr Okemos, MI 48864, USA - Okemos
Quite awhile ago I reported directly to the Twp. and County Rd. Dept. that the crosswalk markings were gone on Kinawa Dr. at the new crossing with the RRFB signal between Briarwood and Chippewa MS. Just drove by last evening and I noticed they’re still gone. Pls repaint them soon for the safety of the school kids crossing this busy road.
  • 4453-4499 Hagadorn Rd Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Ingham County
I've noticed this winter in particular that the southwest corner ped area of this intersection does not get cleared of snow. Pedestrians are definitely using it as can be seen from all of the tracks in that area and I have observed quite a few pedestrians using it as well on my daily commute through this intersection. The other three corners have been cleared but not this one. It's not safe.
  • 4028-4054 Beaumont Road Lansing, Michigan - Michigan State University
The shoulder of Beaumont Rd. in the north-bound direction just before cresting the hill is extremely degraded making the travel lane about 8 ft. wide, meaning that many vehicles will be swerving into the oncoming lane to avoid dropping their wheels off the edge of the asphalt. The rest of this road is in awful condition all the way up to at least Forest Rd. and Forest is also extremely bad now to at least the Farm Ln. intersection. I used my bike in the photo to give you a better sense for the width of the lane to the edge.
  • Drumheller And Chandler Bath Michigan - US Congressional District MI8
This intersection is completely covered with gravel and caused one of my friends to crash when she turned off Chandler and tried to head east on Drumheller. She was injured in multiple places on her body. This intersection desperately needs sweeping before another crash occurs.
  • 729 East Shiawassee Street Lansing Michigan - Lansing
The RR and ped crossing signs on the west-bound side of Shiawasee here are both obscured from view from the roadway due to overgrown branches. These need to be trimmed way back. While I was taking photos two different groups of people crossed the road here from Neogen, so it is a very active ped crossing. It was around 6 pm too.
  • 4301 Farm Lane Lansing Michigan - Michigan State University
The bike lane on south-bound Farm Lane that was mistakenly installed years ago to the right of a right-turn only lane is still there. This needs to be re-striped to prevent bicyclists getting the classic and oftentimes deadly "right hand hook" by motorists that turn right when a bicyclist wants to go straight. I shot this video last week of a bicyclist who fortunately knew better and positioned herself safely between the vehicles going straight and the right turn lane: https://youtu.be/mVXx6uocHUc
  • 920 South Harrison Road East Lansing Michigan - East Lansing
The flashing light on the top of the School Zone sign in the south-bound lane is broken (bent over backwards) so that people can't see if the school zone speed limit is in force.
  • 800 Barry Road Dansville, Michigan - Ingham County
Barry Rd. has the biggest, steepest hills in Ingham County, so it attracts a lot of bicyclists. The potholes on Barry Rd., especially from where the repaving was done recently to the start of the big hill are very bad and cause bicyclists heading west-bound to swerve a lot to avoid crashing their bikes. This is when they are coming down the big hill so the higher speeds create a lot of wind noise such that bicyclists can't hear cars/ trucks approaching from behind at high speeds. I've had many close calls dodging potholes on this stretch.
  • 1599 Jolly Road Meridian Charter Township Michigan - Ingham County
I know Jolly is scheduled to get rebuilt from Dobie to Meridian Rd. in the coming year or so, but these potholes are deep and dangerous. There are many others west of the Okemos Rd. intersection all the way to the intersection with Hulett that cause a lot of swerving of vehicles to avoid. The worst: there are some in the west-bound lanes on the blind hill that cause motorists to swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid. The intersection with Van Atta Rd. is also especially terrible.
