I agree- the same is true up and down Sherman Ave. There is a great deal of traffic on Sherman and cars completely ignore the small "Stop for Pedestrian" signs that do exist. Hopefully when Sherman Ave. gets redone it will either decrease traffic or signs will be put up that better protect pedestrians.
While it is unresolved I no longer live in the area and therefore cannot monitor the situation.
While I appreciate DDOT's investigation I do not believe that this issue has been resolved. I still believe that it is dangerous for pedestrians. I, however, no longer live in the area or travel this route so I am going to close the issue. Thanks everyone for your time! If someone who walks there more frequently would like to open it up I would definitely welcome the continued push to make this corner safer for pedestrians.
Lucy- You are correct- Even though I entered the address as 1800 Connecticut Ave. NW (the Russia House) the map has it displayed on the opposite corner. The issue is definitely the walk signal nearest Russia House crossing south across Florida Ave.
Thank you Council Member Graham and Director Klein for looking into the problem! I am definitely always concerned about pedestrian safety at that corner and think that one of the fixes you have suggested would definitely help!
