246 Greenwich Ave. New Haven, CT 06519, USAAn email from one of my neighbors: "The crews plowing the streets are costing big money, they are using old fashioned plow trucks that don't REMOVE the snow. These trucks just plow our driveways in, like this morning on the even side of Greenwich Ave. We are in favor of a meeting [with Alders] on this problem. Pay loader dump trucks is the way to go: dump in vacant lots in the ward. Removing the snow in this way cuts fuel and man hour cost. The crews are doing the work with the equipment they have, but now I have to clear ice boulders from my driveway, can't use a snow blower. That's my 2 cents.Thank you."
375 Greenwich Ave. New Haven, CT 06519, USASince Public Works isn't going to be able to remove all the snow 'til spring, this series of photos shows neighbors a somewhat less labor-intensive way to keep your street (& possibly your driveway) from flooding when all this stuff begins to melt. The 1st photo shows where I used a square-ended garden spade to dig a trench from the street to the corner storm water catch basin.
