ATVs speed through this area, popping wheelies and driving the wrong way down Willett and other one-way streets almost daily all year long. Winter has not deterred the obnoxious ATVs, motorcylces or motorbikes, two of which are NOT legal on-street vehicles to begin with. They are also racing up and down Madison Ave. into oncoming traffic, in the turn lane, and blowing through red lights all while filming themselves. Good God, don't we have people in APD who are at least skilled enough to know how to search Youtube for these videos to identify some of these people? They often list the videos under Albany NY. Disgustingly, APD not only doesn't do anything proactive, but doesn't respond to calls about this issues either and, most aggregious, witnesses the behavior directly and just drivse in the opposite direction, leaving pedestrians and drivers in danger. Chief Hawkins should be mandated to cease his policy of not addressing this issue. This stance is aiding no one but the perpetrators of this behavior and the Mayor's office just stands by equally inert. How do we get HELP when we fear for our safety on a regular basis and are at the mercy of a city and police department neglecting their jobs to enforce? If it's this bad now, imagine what will happen as spring arrives. Inexcusable.
