1300 East Main Richmond, VA
I don't get into Richmond all that often. Yesterday I parked at a meter, fed in the coins and spent a little over 2 hours at the State Corporation Commission and paid $65 for the services they rendered. I realized time was running out so I went back out and put more coins in the meter. When I came out after 11 a.m., I was greeted with a $20 parking ticket (with time still on the meter by the way). They marked my tire 8:50 a.m. and cited me at 11 a.m. How was I to know you could not put more money in the meter? There were at least 3-4 open parking spaces nearby so this wasn't a heavily packed street! If the Mayor's office wonders why people don't like to do business in Richmond, here's a good reason why. I will pay the fine because I'd probably get another one if I came back to contest it. But I'll do my best to avoid coming into the city again anytime soon. I travel all over the state and try to obey the local laws but it always seems like Richmond City is the one place always out to get you.
