This area is zoned SINGLE-FAMILY and all the houses on this street are SINGLE-FAMILY DETACHED RESIDENCES. This street is NOT and NEVER was zoned for up to four unrelated adults living in one house!
This ordinance is ILLEGAL and violates my homeowner rights to PEACE and quiet enjoyment of my property! My taxes are EXORBITANT and I live in a SLUM!!!!
What are my taxes going to, besides lawsuits the city is constantly involved in??? You shut down our COMMUNITY CENTER! But you can hire 50 enforcement officers because of the mess you have created by allowing the STEALTH DORMS in this neighborhood!
I'm sick of the trash and the nightly fights and the beer cans and fast food trash EVERYWHERE!!!
I want to know when the city of College Station enacted this ILLEGAL ordinance that violates our zoning and deed restrictions? "Single-family residence" meant "no more than two unrelated adults" when we bought our house 28 years ago.
Law enforcement stood by and did nothing when we had a fraternity across the street for THREE YEARS - this doesn't give you a whole lot of credibility!
There are 4 parking spaces in the driveways and 2 more in the garages! Why are there ANY cars on the street???? There is no reason whatsoever for ANY cars to be parked on this street.
When you restricted parking to one side of the street, you put your sign on MY front lawn! I have the tiniest lot on the entire street with 71 ft frontage - short 11 ft from everyone else, except BOTH my neighbors who have 1.5 lots and 2 lots, respectively, but you had to stick the "NO PARKING" sign on MY FRONT LAWN!
The post above contains misinformation. The definition of Family in the City's UDO (Unified Development Ordinance) has been in place since at least the 1970s: "Family: A family is one (1) or more persons occupying a single dwelling unit, provided that unless all members are related by (1) blood, (2) adoption, (3) guardianship, (4) marriage, or (5) are part of a group home for disabled persons, no such family shall contain more than four (4) persons." This applies city-wide.
Deed restrictions are separate from the UDO, are local, and are not enforced by the City, but rather, by the HOA.
