Requests: animal problem
146 Canterbury Rd Danville, VA, 24541, USAThere is a 4 way stop sign at the intersection of Canterbury Rd and Surry lane. I have lived at 146 Canterbury Rd. for right at 3 years. I am in my yard almost every day work. More and more, and on a average of 5 to 8 times a day the stop signs on each side of Canterbury are ignored. Both cars and trucks speed through these stops signs. When GW and Averett are in full session, it is more frequent. On Thursday of last week a "yellow" city truck blew through the stop sign going towards West Main.
We have lots of families walking Canterbury and Surry, families strolling their "little Ones", and people walking their dogs daily. This on going running of these stop signs dangerous for all.
I am asking "public works" to do one of a couple things. One is to paint white lines at each stop sign at this intersection, as well as put the word "stop" at the lines at each stop sign on Canterbury. This is where the most frequent running of the stop sign occurs. The other request would be to put speed bumps before the stop signs on Canterbury, as well as paint white lines before the stop signs. The last request is to put up speed limit signs on Canterbury. Being that Canterbury is a connection from Memorial Dr. to West Main St., as well as a well traveled street for Averett University students, there are frequent speeders.
I appreciate the cities time with this matter, and hope this will be addressed in a timely manner as it is important in keeping this area safe and user friendly.

Enough is enough. Had to contact Danville PD YET again in regards to my neighbors dogs. I had a very nice discussion with officer Touchstone on 1/31/19. Since that conversation(and before actually)I have been recording my neighbors dogs bark whilst being tied to leads for hours on end. Upon my arrival home from work today I noticed my neighbors small dog(they're are two at the residence)on my driveway. I started recording and contacted, Danville PD. My words would not do justice to the professionalism Officer Brandon displayed. However, he felt his hands were tied. The previous two officers who visited my residence basically said "ma'am, dogs bark.", as if I couldn't work that out own my own. Dogs barking periodically, not an issue, but this is CONTINUAL, sometimes for hours on end, and unacceptable. I work 2 jobs, 7 days a week and unfortunately can not take time off to be home during the hours of 8 to 5 to meet with an animal control officer. Although, I fear that may be my only resolution.
All I want to do is come home and have peace, but instead I get to listen to dogs barking throughout dinner, during the work I complete at home after dinner, and last week when I finally had a few days off I am awoken at quarter after 6 AM by my neighbors dogs, which I also promptly started to record. Then today I realize my neighbors chain is SO long it reaches MY property. How is this legal?!?!
As previously stated I have been video recording these events for a while now. I have also been uploading aforementioned videos to YouTube, and will continue to do so. Below are the links from TODAY (3/11/19) ALONE. Today's videos do not revolve around the barking, but the fact that my neighbors are ENTITLED to have a chain so long there dogs may broach my domicile. The remaining videos are listed as private, but I will be more than happy to share if necessary. The videos are short and the last two are the most important. MINUTES after Officer Brandon pulled away the dog was once again punched on my driveway. In the last video someone finally emerges from the home to bring the animal inside.
I encourage anyone to reach out to and I will be happy to supply video. Infact as I type this now, the larger dog is outside, yet again....barking.
211 Parsons St Danville, VA, 24541, USAMy names constantly leave their two songs on leads for hours at a time. Both dogs bark incessantly and I can not have peace in my own house. I have contacted the police on several occasions to no avail despite noise ordinance. "(5) Animals. No person shall keep or permit the keeping of any animal which, by causing frequent or long continued noise, shall disturb the quiet, comfort or repose of the neighborhood to such an extent as to constitute a nuisance." It carries on for extended periods of time and I am at my wits end! I work two jobs and can not come home and relax due to my inconsiderate neighbors.
505 Elizabeth Street Danville, VirginiaAt 505 Elizabeth Street there are 3 dogs that stay in a lot or tied up. I was wondering if someone could do an animal welfare check on them considering the freezing temps that are coming. The black and white dog stays tied up, he’s a barker but I don’t think he’s aggressive. I just want to make sure they survive this weather. Thanks
505 Wimbish Danville, VirginiaOccupants at 505 and 519 Wimbish continously leave dogs out barking at all hours and all night long. Please, Please, Please get them to either stop OR remove the animals who are constantly abused by leaving them out in all weather and no responsible care for the animals or NEIGHBORS who have to put up with their rudness and disregard. No one should have to put up with this. Please help. No Sleep!!!
