The following comment/suggestion/request was received on Facebook:

I understand that the city is not able to improve the recycling at this time. How would one go about proposing a discount on garbage services for people choosing to recycle almost everything instead of using the garbage service? Such as paying per bag, per weight or offering a bi-weekly pick up option.

Staff responded with:
It would require a bylaw re-write because all of our garbage rates and collection routes would have to be restructured. Our bylaw and budget for 2020 was just approved in early December. But that's not to say it can't happen - Council has committed to review the water rates this year to possibly do a restructuring to encourage water conservation. It might be timely to have the waste management rates reviewed at the same time and possibly add something that allows people who produce less waste to pay less.
