After being fixed for all of one week, the crossing light at the corner of Stetson and Essex is *again* broken. Will it take a traffic fatality of an elderly person, kid on a bike, or mother pushing a stroller with her child to compel the town to implement a permanent fix that involves complete replacement of the light infrastructure? this is one of the busiest and most dangerous intersections in the town. how much time and money does it take to prioritize fixing this problem when there is precedent all over town to replace crossing lights - particularly on Humphrey Street and the wealthier sections of town. This is not a new problem!

Please do not just forward this message to the "contractor that services Swampscott's traffic lights because clearly this cover for "not my problem". What person at the DPW is responsible and when will there be action taken?

If Swampscott would like to continue shirking responsibility, please name contact information for a state or other agency who can better assist us.

The Ellis road/paradise road light needs to be reviewed. Specifically the trees blocking the light on the southbound side until the very last second. It could be why there are sooo many cars that run this light even after it turns red!

The sequence at this light of off, and needs a review. After Route 1A has a red light, Ellis Rd should then have the green light. Instead, the pedestrian walk light is on, every time.

Also, one of the Green Lights is out at this intersection. It is one facing 1A north.

This issue was fixed for a few weeks but has reverted back again, along with the same nuisance effects for both drivers and residents. The light stays red half the time (30sec per minute) whereas normally it should only trigger red if there's cross traffic or pedestrians. At the busiest times of day it makes it harder for people to pull out of their driveways with the traffic backed up. Drivers who blare music from their cars who would normally pass right by, instead sit at the intersection for a full 30 sec. Late in the evening large semi-trucks come screeching to a halt, surprised by the light change. Ambulances normally stay silent in the wee hours, are obligated to turn on the siren to because the light is changing and they must blow through safely. It would be a shame if any these things needlessly contributes to an accident there.

Traffic light still not working properly. School has started and there is an elementary bus stop on Essex. Very dangerous intersection. Can the town at least provide a crossing guard?
  • The traffic light coming out of CVS Vinnan Square allows only 2 cars to exit. I was car 3 and ended up going through a light that turned red on me.

Traffic Light at High School frequently turns red when no cars or pedestrians are exiting the high school. When folks are exiting the high school, the light does not appear to be synchronized with the Burpee Street light. Please review the timing of these two lights, and in conjunction with the Burrill St light.
