There is a hole underneath the sidewalk: a large crack has appeared. You can see that the area underneath the sidewalk is not supported by the ground. The sidewalk is very hazardous. We have previously reported that this sidewalk needed repair and it was approved for future repair by the town. This needs urgent attention.

Unsafe sidewalk

My children have fallen and most recently my daughter has busted her knee as a result of the poor conditions on the sidewalk in front of our home 40 Rentell road. My electrolytes neighbor has a walker and I am always reminding her to be careful has the indent in the sidewalk is uneven and she can fall. Please fix this issue has children use the sidewalk to ride bikes and I know need to use the street for their safety.

Sidewalk in need of repair

Last year a crew from Public Works removed a tree next to 107 Westminster St, Hamden. Prior to the tree removal the tree root was pushing the sidewalk up. Resident is putting in a request to have just that little section of sidewalk repaired, evened out so no one trips and falls in the future.

Reported defective sidewalk July 2015, inspector was sent out & sidewalk was placed on repair list. 5 YEARS LATER, in April 2020 , followed up with second call & request made for repair AGAIN since sidewalk getting worse. Followed up with email to “Caesar” in Oct. 2020 & received no responses either time. Yesterday , April 10,2024, I tripped & fell in front of my house sustaining injury to Right foot. Photos of sidewalk in front of my house at 90 Chester St. AND photo of my foot included. I suggest you put this sidewalk on emergency repair . NINE YEARS is TOO LONG TO WAIT , especially considering we have one of the highest mill rates in the state. Cynthia Coco

4/7/2021-I have reported a problem with the sidewalk in front of my home since Feb 2011. The sidewalk is raised due to tree roots that the town has since taken down (Oct 2013). The sidewalk has cracked more and when it rains there is a huge puddle and now it's completely crumbling to small rocks. Many older and handicapped people walk on this side of the street and I have seen many people trip. The town has marked out the sidewalk and driveway skirt numerous times, needs repaired asap.
Here is the last signoff from the Engineering Inspector 12/8/2017: "The Town currently repairs sidewalks based on the roads with the oldest complaints. Once we get to a street, we attempt to repair all sidewalk problems on the street. We are currently working on streets with complaints from 2007 and about to begin 2008 streets. Based on current funding and given your street is a 2007 street, we anticipate it to take within a year to get to the street. The town is currently winding down sidewalk work for the year due to impending cold temperatures and snow". I do not understand why it would take over 10 years for the Town to repair this issue. I would appreciate a timely response.

The sidewalk in front of this property is crumbling and broken away in at least in 18 foot section. It's a hazard for people walking. It's a hazard for children that live in the neighborhood. It's a hazard for elderly people! I can't even imagine how she managed to shovel snow in the winter. It's s absolutely disgraceful that a complaint/report was made in 2021 and it's now 2024, and this is still sitting there!! It's still broken worse than I've ever seen its unacceptable!
