  • 2 Brookside Drive Hamden, Connecticut - Spring Glen
UI is removing healthy trees from our neighborhood park- please advise them immediately not to remove any more trees from this location. The trees provide necessary shade and ambiance. Removing more trees will destroy this beautiful neighborhood gem.
  • Edgerton Park New Haven, Connecticut - Hamden
There is a dangerous dead tree by the north road in Edgerton Park; people walk by here frequently. It could fall and hurt someone. Parks Dept. should remove before an accident happens.
  • 57 Ralston Ave Hamden, CT, 06517, USA - Hamden
The dead tree at curb was supposed to come down 3 years ago. It was posted. I've made several calls going back before that and since. It's not getting better! It's a small tree, would not take much time at all! The constant falling branches are a safety issue for the elderly and/or disabled who travel that block constantly from Davenport/Dunbar - Canes, walkers, scooters. Can this please get taken care of once and for all?!?
  • 48 Church Street Hamden, CT - Hamden

I am writing regarding an old tree in front of my house at 48 church st. Hamden. This is a very old tree, with lots of rotten large branches that tend to fall during every storm and with strong winds. The tree is located on the sidewalk, a block away from an elementary school. Parents and children walk by every morning.

I have a three year old girl that plays in the yard and I am worried for her safety. The tree is also putting my property and my neighbors at risk, both our cars and part of our houses sit underneath the tree.

My husband and neighbor have tried contacting Public Works MANY times during the last two years with no response whatsoever. We tried to hire someone to take the tree down but they wouldn’t do it because is city’s property. So we are requesting the tree to be taken down for everyone safety. If it can’t be taken down, it at least needs a serious pruning.

I appreciate your help on directing this request to the responsible person so they take action.

Urgent safety issue! Tree branches are obstructing the traffic signal on Whitney at Hawthorne. The has been one accident this week as well as a near miss. This is a popular pedestrian crossing. Please come trim these branches, especially those on southbound Whitney side. Trees are on city property.

The street-side maple tree in front of our home at 60 Woodlawn Street really needs to come down. It has been twice condemned over the past 6 or 7 years, yet still stands. Several large limbs have crashed down in the intervening time, one smashing the back off our neighbor's mini van.
It is only a matter of time before the remaining limbs break off, potentially harming a resident or worse.

It would be great if this particular tree can be put to rest.

Thanks in advance for your attention to this request.

"Hello, this past week the town was trimming the tree in front of 40 Lakeview Ave due to a report of falling limbs. I have seen the limbs that fall from that tree and they are similar to the ones we have reported falling from the tree in front of 54 Lakeview Ave for the past 3 years now. One of which fell next to me and my child while making a snow man, another just inches from my mothers car when she visited, and another actually hitting our truck causing us to have to replace the rear light. My husband and our neighbor both went out to ask the workers what is going on with the tree in front of 54 Lakeview. The man said he would look into it but had no order at this time. The tree is currently growing toward or into three houses on our street and literally rests on our house.

Again, the town has posted they would take care of the issue, UI has assessed the tree twice and says the town needs to act. Why are we not seeing any progress? Who can I meet with to address this issue farther? "

Every time it is windy, this tree drops many branches. It is clearly dying or dead.

We have ash trees on our street that belong to the town. They are dying from an infestation of emerald ash borers, according to an arborist who has examined them. There are two that are completely dead, and the rest have dead limbs. He said they could fall over at any time and not to park under them. Some of them are 35' tall and would cause a lot of damage if they fell. We have a lot of kids riding bicycles here, and many people, including myself, walk their dogs on the sidewalks. I wouldn't want to have anyone injured or killed by a falling tree. Nor do I want to have tree crash through my roof in the middle of winter. I don't want to be an alarmist, but the arborist thinks it is a pretty serious situation. I e-mailed the tree warden, Mr. Greene, last week but have not heard from him.
