For some reason the city doesn't think this is an issue. Having disgusting sewer water coming out of the ground it's supposed to be normal. It stinks and a health issue.

20 Van Tuyl Street Staten Island 10301 - New Brighton

The city sewer line has been continuously backing up into my home for several months, which has caused the total destruction of my finished basement but is now presenting a health and safety issue as several times a week the city line over flows into my home leaving behind sewage and toxic gases through out my home. My kids and I suffer migraines and nausea daily because of these fumes and it’s become a full on health hazard for my sons and I. Both DEP and the Borough Hall office have been aware of this issue since August 2019 and DEP confirmed:

    a) there is a man hole that was illegally covered on my street preventing proper access to diagnose the issue

    b) that they are aware that the city line needs to be repaired and replaced.

The Borough Helpline confirmed with DEP that the repair works was scheduled for Sept 6th, it is now Oct 19th and the work has yet to be started.

As of today I have over 25 complaints with 311, weekly calls to the Borough hotline and I cannot get any answers from as to when this situation will be resolved. I have paid for 3 sewer line inspections including one from the DEP, all have confirmed that the issue is coming from the city end with the city line being completely under water for video every inspection. The line backed up continuously without any running waters and has become a utter nightmare to live through. I will be forced to contact media outlets, as my options are limited and the situation dire. As my HVAC is located in the basement near the sewer trap which is consistently backing up from the city line, I cannot use heating or cooling as it facilities the noxious odors through out the house . With the winter months approaching I not be able to safely heat my home.

I need answers and a resolution.

The city was working recently at 800 Victory Blvd staten island NY 10301. The area was next to the cemetery. I don't know if this was caused by the heavy equipment or is it part of the original problem they were fixing. As you can see, water that looks like sewer or contaminated water is seeping out of the ground. It's been like this for 2 weeks. Please have someone find the source and fix it.

160-272 Schmidts Ln Staten Island, NY, 10314, USA - Todt Hill
NYCHA building flooding, discharging untreated sanitary waste from basement, release of untreated sanitary waste is flooding the basement, exiting the building and entering the storm drain outside the basement door, since the building is on such a high hill and the storm drains are also clogged with silt thanks to DEP never cleaning them, the sewage re-emerges out of a storm drain at street level into a city bus stop, this untreated waste can contain e-coli hepatitis and covid 19. There is a stench and possible aerosol formation. Residents exposed to odors, bus riders and shoppers exposed to liquid sewage.
This is an ongoing, well-documented problem, known to the department of health via 311 complaints and numerous nycha complaints.
    Please help.
