Severe flooding occurred again today (09/01/21) due to inadequate sewer/ storm drains on the street. The only 2 drains are inadequate to handle the influx of water from both sides of the street. Just hours ago over 6 ft of water accumulated and flooded into our basement destroying everything on site. We experience this only a week and 3 days ago on 08/22/21. Multiple vehicles were lost, we’ve been experiencing this issue for the last 15 years. Within a week and half we were faced with 2 floods due to the 2 storm drains being over taxed. We currently have no hot water or utilities. I have a 97 year old mother and a husband that is a dialysis patient living in this home.

  • 165 Windsor Rd New York, NY, 10314, USA - Westerleigh-Castleton
On July 9 2021 flash floods and heavy rain caused flooding in my basement. 311 was called at 11:00 pm and was supposed to respond in six hours but responded 3 days later on July 12 (service request # 311089419 and cleaned out all sewers and basins On July 14th at 12:30pm a utility locating and mapping truck arrived to take pictures to see under the sidewalk in front of my Windsor road house We are fearful of a collapse of sidewalk (there are two schools within two blocks of this location) since waters blow off the man hole cover and the catch basin doesn’t drain properly and creates a geyser of water shooting out Heavy rain leaves ponding , flooding , and poor drainage A 311 service request # 311094554 was made about the defective catch basin and DOT came and inspected it and said DEP needs to address this issue and will be reinspected in sixty days Today July 28 DEP came and poured black pavement around the catch basin in front of the defective catch basin. I asked if they saw camera results of under the sidewalk and they said no
I have been aware for many years that there are NO storm sewers in this intersection and the flooding and damage in my home will never end
  • 179 Ardsley St New York 10306, United States - Richmondtown
Center St and Kensico Ave. Newly paved street, had rain this morning and puddles by a school. Children will have to jump over the water to cross the street. What will happen in the winter when water freezes?
  • 65 Derby Ct Staten Island, NY 10302, USA - Port Richmond
With heavy rainfall, for the past 47 years, the intersections of Derby Ct. and Kramer place, along with Mitchell lane and Kramer place, flood due to sewer drainage issues. This costs us thousands per incident in losses due to our basements and vehicles flooding.
  • 800 Victory Blvd Staten Island, NY 10301, USA - Clifton
Please have the city clean the storm drains in front of 800 Victory Blvd and the cemetery next to the building. It's like a river when it rains. The drain in front of the cemetery near the building is completely clogged. I have reported that one six times and nothing has happened. Can you get that one cleaned up for once? Thank you.

  • 101 Livermore Ave Staten Island, NY, 10314, USA - Westerleigh-Castleton
At the Northeast and Southeast crosswalks of Livermore and College Avenues, rains and snows leave massive puddling which become icy "skating ponds" in winter. (This picture was taken several days later and does not show the worst it has been.) Walkers and drivers both are a risk of serious accidents. Many seniors live here and a fall could lead to bone fractures; cars could skid turning these corners. If walking, one must walk well into the roadway to skirt the flooding and icy conditions. Precipitation flows downhill from all directions and onto the sidewalks. In addition, sanitation trucks shovel an entire street's snow to these corners leaving homeowners like myself (64 years old) to shovel repeatedly and an increased accumulation of water. Catch basins would alleviate these hazards. Can these be installed? Thank you.
  • 539 Bement Ave New York 10310, United States - New Brighton
Constituent described flooding within minutes of heavy rain. Street and accompanying lawns flood
  • 3 Dalemere Rd Staten Island, NY, 10304, USA - Todt Hill
The culvert behind 2 Dalemere road which diverts a creek underground into a storm sewer is clogged. The clog is at the culvert and somewhere else down stream in the sewer. The creek has overflowed its banks, through the yard of 2 Dalemere Road and crossed to the east side of Dalemere Road where it is now flowing down the street and sidwalk, down several driveways flooding mud into basements. The catch basin at 7 Dalemere Road cannot handle this wide river of water and is now clogged at the bottom. The storm water is bypassing the sewer and is flooding Chapin Ave. I cleaned the sewer grate before and after the storm. The top is cleared but is clogged underground. In 30 years this problem started 5 months ago and I’ve had flooding on 4 occasions now. The DEP closes each service request with not their problem but the landowners responsibility. It has stopped raining for over 6 hours and water is still flowing like it is still raining due to the clogged culvert and clogged catch basin
  • Richmond Terrace & Snug Harbor Rd Staten Island, NY 10310, USA - New Brighton
