The city sewer line has been continuously backing up into my home for several months, which has caused the total destruction of my finished basement but is now presenting a health and safety issue as several times a week the city line over flows into my home leaving behind sewage and toxic gases through out my home. My kids and I suffer migraines and nausea daily because of these fumes and it’s become a full on health hazard for my sons and I. Both DEP and the Borough Hall office have been aware of this issue since August 2019 and DEP confirmed:

a) there is a man hole that was illegally covered on my street preventing proper access to diagnose the issue

b) that they are aware that the city line needs to be repaired and replaced.

The Borough Helpline confirmed with DEP that the repair works was scheduled for Sept 6th, it is now Oct 19th and the work has yet to be started.

As of today I have over 25 complaints with 311, weekly calls to the Borough hotline and I cannot get any answers from as to when this situation will be resolved. I have paid for 3 sewer line inspections including one from the DEP, all have confirmed that the issue is coming from the city end with the city line being completely under water for video every inspection. The line backed up continuously without any running waters and has become a utter nightmare to live through. I will be forced to contact media outlets, as my options are limited and the situation dire. As my HVAC is located in the basement near the sewer trap which is consistently backing up from the city line, I cannot use heating or cooling as it facilities the noxious odors through out the house . With the winter months approaching I not be able to safely heat my home.

I need answers and a resolution.

For some reason the city doesn't think this is an issue. Having disgusting sewer water coming out of the ground it's supposed to be normal. It stinks and a health issue.

The sewer is constantly backed up on the corner of Graham Avenue and cross street Merrill avenue. In front of 126 Graham Avenue. It has a foul odor and also creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Every time it rains it is backed up for days. Thank you

The storm drain at the southern corner of Margaret and Colon is backed up. Water isn’t draining and results in ponding.
