The odor of chlorine in our drinking water is reasonable most times of the year. The odor goes from typical to awful when it is raining heavily or such rain is predicted. The odor is no longer the typical chlorine smell that most people would recognize, but is sickening. We open windows near the kitchen and bathroom sinks to avoid the odor, but mostly to protect our health. What is going on? What chlorine level at the homeowner tap is the City trying to maintain? Is the City able to notch it down just a tad and still protect our health from bacteria? What is the impact on cancer risk associated with the increase in chlorine levels at certain times of the year? Thank you for your work on bringing us a water supply and for looking into this concern.
