Town of Enfield PLUS

I am writing to bring attention to a potentially hazardous condition at the intersection shown in the attached photo. As depicted, the newly installed sidewalk abruptly ends at the edge of a busy main road. There is no continuation of the sidewalk onto the adjacent side street (Ann St.) which creates a significant safety concern for pedestrians.

Currently, in order to transition from the sidewalk to the Ann street, pedestrians are forced to step directly into Steele road—an area with high vehicular traffic. This design does not provide a safe or accessible means of crossing or continuing travel and fails to meet the expected standards for pedestrian flow and safety.

For the safety and convenience of residents and pedestrians, I strongly recommend the town consider extending the sidewalk onto the side road to create a continuous, safe walking path that avoids the need to enter Steele road.

The sidewalk is becoming covered with grass. About 2 feet of sidewalk wide passable from Plainfield Street east to first telephone pole.

71 Ridge Road is a corner lot and is this picture is on Ridgeview Lane. The Street or severely damaged from the water with potholes and breaking away asphalt the sidewalk is unusable. This affects the children walking to the bus stop to go to school and people that walk around the community. THE WESTERN SIDE OF RIDGE ROAD NEEDS NEW PAVEMENT.

There are multiple houses on this road that have let the grass completely over take the sidewalk. They don’t complete any type of maintenance to them, and during the winter they’re still untouched. There are other houses on this street too that don’t maintain their sidewalk during the winter either. This side of Abbe rd is just as dangerous as the other side that had new sidewalks installed. We have an 85 year old man that walks his dog almost daily and a female that walks her two dogs daily as well. They can’t even utilize the sidewalks, they have to walk in the street the majority of the time. When they do use the sidewalks, they’re uneven. It’s time for this side of Abbe rd to be replaced before somebody gets seriously hurt, or looses their life from having to walk in the road.
