Sarasota County Traffic PLUS

The flashing lights on this PED Signal do *not* respond to button pushes from pedestrians. This issue is especially significant at night, when people want to cross Midnight Pass after viewing the sunset. There is a *serious* problem with follow-up on this important safety issue. County trucks come and go, but the problem remains unsolved. This has gone on for about a year. Is there any wonder that the Sarasota-Bradenton area is No. 6 in the United States in the number of fatal crashes involving pedestrians. (See today’s newsfeed from WWSB, Channel 7.)
Will someone *please* take this safety issue seriously, and solve the problem once and for all?

The pedestrian signal button to cross fruitville at honore does not work. I was on the corner by smoothie king and trying to cross fruitville when I hit the button but never received the verbal notification nor the cross signal. I waited for 3 full light signals.

The yellow paint on the median curbs is in bad shape and needs to be repainted. Grove Pointe HOA volunteers are willing to do the painting if the County would provide the paint.
Also several of the RPM's have come loose and need to be replaced.

I have noticed an increase in traffic and speeds on School Ave. as drivers have begun to use School Ave. through to Florinda or Sandrala as a cut through from Procter to 41. This is a narrow street with an Intermittent sidewalk, directly fronting a large elementary school (philippi). I feel some further speed and use deterrent is necessary to keep children safe and, yes, to also to maintain the integrity of a beautiful and rising central Sarasota neighborhood.

No Stop Sign on Ferris and Longford.

Sidewalk damaged causing resident tripping

There are no white street stop sign markers painted in road for all 3 stop signs at this interesection, they have worn off, as a result drivers dont see stop sign area and run stop sign inadvertently all day, VERY DANGEROUS

A crosswalk and even a crossing light needs to be installed here on midnight Pass Road. There is no place for a walker to cross other than just running for it. This is a hazard with cars driving as if it were a freeway.

Street sign hit and is impeding turn lane.

Requesting Hand Road to be widened and turn lanes added to get into Lakeview Elementary. Currently Hand Rd is a 2 lane road, with double yellow indicating no passing. There are no shoulders on the road. As cars are turning left into Lakeview, other vehicles are passing from behind and simply driving down the wrong side of the road. It's only a matter of time until a care legally turning left gets hit by an illegally passing car. I have seen cars, busses, postal vehicles, etc. pass illegally here.
We desperately need turn lanes into both Lakeview Elementary entrances, from North and South.

Putting hazard barrel up on to raised median obstructs visibility of oncoming traffic when making a left turn onto Ave D. I reported this b4 and it was promptly corrected - but now it’s happening again! Storing the barrel there is one problem but landscaping is getting high too and that also makes it tricky for lower cars to see the inner lane of traffic coming fast from over the bridge.
