Sarasota County Traffic PLUS

The stoplight sensor system for vehicles heading westbound on University Parkway turning left onto Conservatory Dr. needs to be evaluated and improved. It is an increasingly dangerous turn lane to be waiting in and the sensor often does not acknowledge cars waiting to turn and misses the cycle. I often see cars simply just waiting for a break in oncoming traffic and running the red left arrow. I don’t blame them— we’re “sitting ducks” in the middle of a high-speed, multi-lane parkway. Driving a small car, I’m worried about getting rear ended and would rather get out of the parkway traffic as soon as possible.

A street light is out on S. Beneva Road between Collins Ave. and Parakeet Way. The light pole is in the median, so both bulbs may be out - east and west side.

The entrance to Garden Village is dark. We need a street light there to safely find and enter the community.

Street light needed at the entrance of Garden village on cattleman rd. Dark and kids are likely to be hit.

All of the street lights on the north side of University Parkway, between Old Bradenton Road and US41 are out (again).

The intersection is poorly lit at night and it is a safety hazard. A street light/pole light needs installed at the intersection to ensure safety.

This intersection is very dark at night time. Pedestrians have nearly been hit on several occasions.
