This 290 - 292 17th Ave Property is endangering my safety and my property safety because i shared a space with the property but one of the occupants that lived there before the fire that occurred on December 24, 2025.
On December 30,2025 they break down the drywall, removed the panels and are now tampered with the space that my property shared with 290 17th Ave, Newark, NJ that have my gas line.
I verbally told guy that my gas line is in between the space that they tampered with.
The guy told me he is not blood related to the deceased that owned the property. I was also verbally told that the house is going for foreclosure, and that they removed the drywall and some other things so it can reduce the price at foreclosure, but they are tampering with the space in between the two properties that my property shared with 290 17th Ave, Newark, NJ and thereby endangering my property and life because my own gas line to my kitchen are in the space that the former occupants of 290 17th Avenue, Newark, Nj are tampering with.
On SAturday, January 4, 2026 i heard a vibration in my kitchen and the vibration is due to whatever the unauthorized person is doing inside the abandon property and I call the POlice department. I also call the Police Department this morning and I was told to keep calling the City of Newark to come and seal off the property because of safety issue.
Please can the City of Newark come and seal up 290 17th Ave, Newark, Nj?
The owner died and the occupants when the fire started are not related to the owner as he told me so they are actually squatters because he was the one that told me that the mortgage was not paid and the blood relatives are fighting over it.
But they are being all the breaking of the sheet rocks/ drywall.

Cotton Tree is damaging my central air because of how stuffed they are from the cotton and I've had to pay in the past to get it fixed and in the past people have dumped their trash in the private abandoned property and the smells cause disturbance within the backyards. If someone from the city can please send someone to check this issue out it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, this white SUV has been parked outside of our building for 3 weeks. I was unsure if the owner was on vacation so I waited to report it, but it's been long enough and fear that we may have a fire situation soon.

Subject: Request for Inspection and Resolution of Health and Safety Concerns on Garside Street Newark NJ 07104

    To whom it may concern,

I am writing as a concerned citizen regarding several pressing issues on Garside Street that are posing significant health and safety hazards to the community.

    1. Excessive Garbage:
There is a large accumulation of garbage spanning from 89 Garside Street to 96 Garside Street. This is attracting rats that are actively running in and out of the area, making it unsafe for residents to get in and out of their cars or homes. Additionally, the sidewalks on both sides are obstructed, creating challenges for children and pedestrians. These properties appear to be rentals, and it seems that the landlords are neglecting their responsibilities for proper maintenance.
    2. Vacant Lot and Illegal Dumping:
Next to 83 Garside Street, there is a vacant lot where illegal dumping has been occurring. This is further exacerbating the unsanitary conditions in the neighborhood.
    3. Abandoned Home and Squatter Activity:
At 90 Garside Street, an abandoned home is now occupied by squatters. There are visible electrical extensions running out of the property, suggesting they have managed to obtain power. This situation presents a significant safety concern for the neighborhood, as the risk of fire or other hazards is high.

I kindly request that inspectors be sent to investigate these matters and take appropriate action. If required, I am happy to provide photographic evidence of the conditions and email them to your office.

Your attention to this urgent matter is greatly appreciated, as it is essential for the safety and well-being of our community.

    Respectfully,
    [A Concerned Citizen]

Barricades left on the street blocking traffic on the corner of Bruen and Lafayette
  • 185 Chancellor Ave Newark, New Jersey, 07112 - Weequahic
The gate between 185 and 183 Chancellor is left open very often. The gate is big and blocks the sidewalk so you have to get in the street. They will leave it open all night like tonight or cars will sit in the driveway blocking the sidewalk . I am handicap and don’t think I should have to play in the street because they are careless.
