  • 219 Bradley St New Haven, CT, 06510, USA - East Rock

This was reported in August of 2019 and has been ignored since. Federal law requires that New Haven Academy be accessible by at least one accessible parking space.. All three reserved parking spaces across the street from this Public School have had ADA violations at them for many years.

The ADA does not specifically require that parking spaces that are reserved for people with disabilities be accessible to the people for whom they are reserved. It assumes that a basic understanding of the purpose of these parking spaces exists - and it requires that ground surfaces be "stable, firm, and slip resistant" and it defines the numerous trip hazards that exist at the junctions of the slate slabs.

  • 191 Church St New Haven, CT, 06510, USA - Town_Green
This is the northeast corner of the New Haven Green, 1/2 block north of New Haven City Hall. What the ADA defines as a trip hazard is, in fact a trip hazard. The vertical level change at this curb ramp is about twice what it allowed. It is noteworthy that this is on the path of travel from public transportation stops to the Courthouse across the street.
  • 85 Edgewood Ave New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Dwight
    Brick sidewalk in disrepair
  • 59-79 Crescent St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Dixwell

Hillhouse High School. As you can see from colors of the sidewalk, the City of New Haven violated 28 CFR 35.151 "The obligation to provide an accessible path of travel may not be evaded by performing a series of small alterations to the area served by a single path of travel if those alterations could have been performed as a single undertaking." by repairing small sections of this path of travel near a Public School.

The city is ostensibly engaged in the The Safe Routes to School program. which "seeks to create a 'safety trail' within a 1/4-mile corridor of each public school in the City." Photos of the 'Safety Trail left behind by the failure to comply with Federal law follow.

  • 60-198 Laurel Rd New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Westville
This wide, curving, pot hole-filled, one-way road that has broken or entirely lacks sidewalks on parts of both sides is designed to encourage speeding drivers and make it dangerous for people walking or using micromobility vehicles. Redesign is desperately needed. Think smooth sidewalks that don’t flood, (contraflow) micromobility lanes, etc. Might be worth limiting car access to residents.
  • 200 Orange St New Haven, CT, 06510, USA - Town_Green

It appears that the ADA violations on the access ramp to the polling place for Ward 7 in the Town Hall of Records building have been removed from see, click, fix.

    Please explain.

  • 401 Humphrey St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Bishop-Hine
The sidewalk needs to be widened in this short stretch. It is too narrow, does not match the width of the other sidewalk strips, and is not ADA-compliant (handicap accessible).
[Ideally, the damage to the broader part of the sidewalk from tree removal also needs to be fixed.]
  • 920 State St New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - Bishop-Hine
resident is reporting raised bricks and sidewalks on the right side of the townhouses in between 920 state st and the tattoo parlor next door their is a small entryway please inspect the sidewalk
  • 380 Orange St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Downtown

Pleas refer this to the Director of Disability Services.

Someone has apparently replaced a "small section" of a ground surface that is not "firm, stable and slip-resistant" (on a "path for travel" from what Elm City Communities has deemed to be an accessible Public Housing facility to a Public Seating Area in front of a Public School) with a ground surface that is not "firm, stable and slip-resistant."

  • 60 Goffe Terrace New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Beaver Hills
across the street from 60 Goffe Terrace.
  • 185 Eastern St New Haven, Connecticut, 06513 - Fair Haven Heights

Eastview Terrace II (Elm City Communities)

The vertical level change at the bottom of this access ramp exceeds the "absolute maximum" allowed by about two inches.

I did not trespass and it appears that most of the ramps are at the back of the buildings. This appears to be an installation error, so it is likely to be repeated.

  • 18 Trumbull St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Downtown
The City if New Haven very obviously Violated 28 CFR § 35.151 when it repaved Trumbull St. but failed to remediate at least two impassable sections of sidewalk on the North side (and some that are traversable .but exceed the 1/2" "absolute maximum" vertical level change.
