995 Elm St New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - EdgewoodI have submitted our sidewalk issues multiple times in the last year and a half since purchasing our home and have reported it to both my alder and the one in the ward with a boundary on our block. This winter's snow and ice have caused significant degradation of the concrete and the condition of our sidewalk has deteriorated to the point that I am nervous to have my parents visit our home. I am very worried about people's ability to safely navigate this stretch of sidewalk.

Sidewalks and Curb damageReconnu230 Temple St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - DowntownThe City of New Haven failed its attempt to remediate the violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act on the NW corner of Chapel and Temple Sts. The absolute maximum change in level allowed is 1/2," This "remediation" left a change in vertical level that exceeds one inch. It is arguably more dangerous now because it is less obvious.
-
Wilbur Cross Athletic Complex - East RockThe gated entrances to the athletic field and track area were locked close. The only open entrance is too narrow and has sharp turns.
-
Edgewood Ave & Pendleton St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - EdgewoodThe sidewalk at the northwest corner of the intersection between Edgewood and Pendleton is not ground down, forcing wheelchair users into the street and off the sidewalk while making their way into the park.

185 Eastern St New Haven, Connecticut, 06513 - Fair Haven Heights
Eastview Terrace II (Elm City Communities)
The vertical level change at the bottom of this access ramp exceeds the "absolute maximum" allowed by about two inches.
I did not trespass and it appears that most of the ramps are at the back of the buildings. This appears to be an installation error, so it is likely to be repeated.

18 Trumbull St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - DowntownThe City if New Haven very obviously Violated 28 CFR § 35.151 when it repaved Trumbull St. but failed to remediate at least two impassable sections of sidewalk on the North side (and some that are traversable .but exceed the 1/2" "absolute maximum" vertical level change.

182 York St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Dwight
This detectable warning on the NW corner of Chapel and York has worn into a trip hazard. It is sheer and offers less slip resistance than the concrete it is set into.
Specifically, this violates 28 CFR 35.133 "(a) A public entity shall maintain in operable working condition those features of facilities and equipment that are required to be readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities by the Act or this part."
"Detectable warning" does not mean that a person should be able to detect the entrance to a roadway by sliding on the warning and falling.
-
Barnett St & Fountain St New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - WestvilleNew curb installed at the corner of Fountain and Barnett doesn't have a ramp for the Barnett crossing. It seems like this doesn't meet ADA standards for new construction - and is a problem for people pushing strollers at an intersection where cars make quick, sharp turns.
