  • 18 Trumbull St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Downtown
The City if New Haven very obviously Violated 28 CFR § 35.151 when it repaved Trumbull St. but failed to remediate at least two impassable sections of sidewalk on the North side (and some that are traversable .but exceed the 1/2" "absolute maximum" vertical level change.
  • 230 Temple St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Downtown
The City of New Haven failed its attempt to remediate the violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act on the NW corner of Chapel and Temple Sts. The absolute maximum change in level allowed is 1/2," This "remediation" left a change in vertical level that exceeds one inch. It is arguably more dangerous now because it is less obvious.
  • 464 Central Ave New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Westville
Sidewalk in front of 101 W Elm in horrible disrepair. Limits accessibility and is a trip hazard. Not ADA compliant.
  • Common Ground High School - West Rock
There is no sidewalks from SCSU- Common Ground- to the Westfield apartments and as one of those children, with autism on SSI walks this path every weekday for school. A sidewalk needs to be implemented as the roads are dangerous and cars consistently speed around the corners and cross the lines that the kids walk down. A sidewalk needs to be added before anyone gets hurt.
  • 182 York St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Dwight

This detectable warning on the NW corner of Chapel and York has worn into a trip hazard. It is sheer and offers less slip resistance than the concrete it is set into.

Specifically, this violates 28 CFR 35.133 "(a) A public entity shall maintain in operable working condition those features of facilities and equipment that are required to be readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities by the Act or this part."

"Detectable warning" does not mean that a person should be able to detect the entrance to a roadway by sliding on the warning and falling.

  • Foxon St & Quinnipiac Ave New Haven, CT, 06513, USA - Fair Haven Heights
The new curbs they are installing on Quinnipiac ave can't access on the corners with a wheelchairs
  • 1001–1011 Chapel St New Haven CT 06510, United States - Downtown
Corner curb cuts at College and Chapel need repair I received a complaint about the lack of accessibility at the intersection
  • Barnett St & Fountain St New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Westville
New curb installed at the corner of Fountain and Barnett doesn't have a ramp for the Barnett crossing. It seems like this doesn't meet ADA standards for new construction - and is a problem for people pushing strollers at an intersection where cars make quick, sharp turns.
  • Clark St New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - SOHU
I'm not sure what to report because I'm not sure what this structure that runs the length of Clark St. is or why it's here.
  • 164 Sherman Ave New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - Edgewood

This woman is riding her wheelchair in the roadway to get from the entrance to St. Raphael's Hospital to the municipal parking lot across the street because the sidewalk - from a hospital to a municipal parking lot directly across the street - is not traversable to someone in a wheelchair.

Why was this allowed to happen? Disparate Impact is the inevitable result of discrimination against people with disabilities. When an urban municipality does not meet its obligations to provide access to people with disabilities, that discrimination will fall disproportionately on low-income communities and in America that means non-white communities.

This neighborhood, according to Datahaven is 22% White..

  • Ramsdell St & Whalley Ave New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Amity
The intersection of Whalley Avenue and E Ramsdell St. has a very busy intersection with a crosswalk that is not ADA friendly to people with hearing disabilities. The crosswalk does not indicate when it is safe across the street, nor does it indicate that it has successfully activated by pushing the button.
  • 230 Edgewood Ave New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - Dwight
These may have been repaired since I toured our Public Schools, There are (or were) hazardous violations of Federal law on both sides of the entrance to the Montessori School On Edgewood.
