Vacant/abandoned structures are the most striking indication of neighborhood decline. These properties threaten neighborhood stability and undermine the investments made by other property owners.
Vacant/abandoned buildings are a significant public safety issue. Aside from being unsightly, they attract criminal activity and are a threat to public safety wherever they exist. City Codes 8.17 and 8.18 have been adopted to help reduce the hazards vacant and abandoned structures present in our community.
City Code 8.18 requires property owners to maintain, annually register vacant and abandoned structures, and allow building safety inspection when requested by City staff.

EngineeringAcknowledged306 Mcclellan Blvd Davenport, IA, 52803, USA - DavenportRetaining wall built to tall and not using geo-grid. Retaining wall partially collapsed this year and is now being rebuilt incorrectly. Wall this tall should be built to code instead of being a danger to passersby.

EngineeringAcknowledged325 E 2nd St Davenport, IA, 52801, USA - DavenportThe west brick wall at 325 E 2nd St is unsupported, cracked in several locations, and has loose bricks. This is the building being remodeled as a theater. The west side of this wall is closely adjacent to an outdoor seating area for The Half Nelson Restaurant (see chairs in photo). My recommendation is that the outdoor seating area be closed until the building renovations are complete. Also this wall should have shoring installed.

The Iowa State American Water company did a main line repair. In front of my property. They busted up & removed half of the CITY SIDEWALK/WALKWAY. Between the street & THE CITYS SIDEWALK.
However the walkway WAS NOT REPAIRED/REPLACED. I'm unsure why it was left as it's seen in this photo. I would seriously like the city walkway/walk path. From the street (5th street) accessible as it was, before the water company’s work done..
