Dessa Dr & Edgemere Rd Town of Hamden, CT, 06517, USA - Spring Glen
Please remove the no parking signs in front of 18 Edgemere Road. They were placed there to keep parents/caretakers of St. Rita's students from parking there during pick up and drop off time. It is done anyway and not policed. However, the pick up and drop off times are limited to M-F during the school year. No visitors to my home can park in front of house ever because of these signs. Given that it is not policed, the person negatively impacted by the signs is the resident.

Augur St & Whitney Ave Town of Hamden, CT, 06517, USA - Hamden

The intersection of Augur/Whitney is extremely dangerous. People fly down whitney 60+mph, and taking a left onto augur (traveling northbound) puts you at serious risk of getting hit from behind.

Additionally there is no signage saying you can't take a left from augur onto whitney, but there is no time to react from cars coming around that corner, they WILL hit you. Also the shell gas station parks vans on a raised platform blocking view of traffic coming from the left.

This intersection needs a stop light or something, it is simply too dangerous and there are frequently serious accidents here.

128 Broadway Hamden, CT, 06518, USA - test hamden SL
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to report this but there is bamboo overtaking the corner of Broadway and Patterson.
It completely blocks the stop sign and the view of drivers at the intersection.

143 Belden Rd Hamden CT 06514, United States - Hamden
From 153 Belden to 133 Belden should be no parking on that side of the street. The combination of people parking on the street and the curves/cross street make it a blind area. Very dangerous!

Putnam Ave & Whitney Ave Hamden, Connecticut, 06517 - Hamden
The traffic stop line for the traffic light on Putnam Avenue near Whitney Avenue is to close to Whitney Avenue. Large trucks cannot make the turn if vehicles are near the current stop line on Putnam Avenue. The traffic stop line should be back at the location of the street trees near the corner which is approx. 15 feet further back on Putnam Ave.

262-288 Lane St Hamden, CT, 06514, USA - Hamden

I am writing to formally request the installation of speed bumps on Lane Street near Dunbar School due to ongoing safety concerns. This long, straight stretch of road has become a hotspot for reckless driving, particularly during school hours when children are walking to and from school. Drivers frequently speed through this area, creating a dangerous environment for students, families, and community members.

In addition to the daytime safety risks, residents regularly report excessive speeding and illegal street racing at night. The noise from these vehicles disrupts the peace of the neighborhood and violates local noise ordinances. More importantly, the combination of high speeds and limited visibility at night increases the risk of serious accidents.

Installing speed bumps would be a simple yet effective measure to slow down traffic, protect pedestrians, and restore safety to our community. I urge the town of Hamden to take immediate action before a preventable tragedy occurs.

Please prioritize this request and take the necessary steps to address these ongoing hazards.

People are driving around the barriers in east rock park, and it is dangerous. I almost got hit by a car while running yesterday, and I saw 5 cars in the blocked off section yesterday on my run from the parking lot in East Rock Park down to the baseball fields. Can we please get some more signage/less mobile barriers?

    Sanford St & Shepard Ave Hamden, Connecticut, 06514 - Hamden_Feature 001

In early 2025, I noticed a crosswalk had entirely faded from this intersection. I reported it on this app, and it’s still faded.

Many times I need to cross Sanford Street on foot and that light turns green, cars driving off Sanford onto Shepard have no clue there’s a crosswalk on Sanford Street because there’s no signage going uphill on Sanford Street–only a sign for a vehicular traffic signal. This becomes horrendous during rush hour.

There’s also zero signaling here where a short pedestrian signal would solve the issue, since no traffic would be dangerously backed up here.

A Connecticut State Police trooper (license plate ending in UTZ) was stopped on Sanford Street at the red light, but slowly inched forward. I recognized that as the “I’m inching forward and not moving because I can see you and I’m waiting for you to go,” so I started walking since my light was red, THERE IS A CROSSWALK ON THE GROUND, and I expect NO ONE turning off Sanford to move if there’s a person walking in the crosswalk. But apparently it wasn’t a signal for me to go on my right of way, because I saw the Police employee’s hand move down like they were done on their cell phone, before they accelerated through the intersection, blew straight past me, and slammed on their brakes 40-50 feet away to make sure they didn’t hit me. That’s not safe. They blew past a NO TURN ON RED sign they couldn’t see because of its obscurity.

I frequently use a scooter through here, and often, am just simply not seen by impatient drivers trying to turn right onto Sanford. I’ve had to jump off my moving scooter 3-4 times moving north on Shepard just before Sanford because people driving vehicles, one of those being a United Illuminating truck that had clear visibility of the road on a sunny morning and clearly saw me waiting in front of them. I’m not too short to be seen in front of the engine of a UI truck especially when I’m standing on a scooter.

Several other of those vehicles seemed intent on causing an accident by “choosing to not see me.”

Vehicles driving uphill off Sanford, and in all directions ONTO Sanford, have no clue there’s a crosswalk, or that they’ll have to stop for a pedestrian in the way.

I’ve raised issues about this multiple times through this app and by contacting any of the State DOT, and the governor’s office, if not more.

Raising awareness repeatedly about an issue like this through 311 channels is not my only course of action.

Privileged state-licensed drivers, some visibly active STATE POLICE drivers and others visibly active LEGISLATORS, as identified with special state license plates, believe they do not need to ensure the safety of those around them as they perform their jobs.

I would not be in danger of bodily injury due to a state or any other vehicle if this was a safe intersection operating safely by a responsive town that isn’t creating more mountains from more repeated requests I’m being forced to make that someone would obviously rather ignore and table.

150 Welton St Hamden, Connecticut, 06517 - Hamden
Good morning. My husband and I own Taylor Freezer of CT, located at 130-150 Welton Street. We are requesting to have a sign in front of our building and across the street that says "No Overnight Truck Parking". There have been several hit and run accidents involving our tenant's workers cars because of large trucks/trailers being left on the street in front of our building (mostly across the street) leaving little room for other trucks to pass. The other issue comes when trucks/trailers are left there for many days, sometimes weeks. And snow plowing...big issue.

Newhall St Hamden, Connecticut, 06517 - Hamden
Multiple request sent to the city via email/in person to install a speed hump/stop sign on Newhall/Augur st has proved futile. vehicles keep soaring through the curve day and night and every time someone races through with a loud noise my heart goes to my throat as I wait anxiously for them to pass through. this happens even after midnight. in addition to that, kids stay in this corner for this bus every morning and we see speeding vehicles taking the curve during this time as they care less about the kids. since a couple of incidents happened recently, the city of hamden is responsible in preventing a major disaster or tragedy before they happen again. it's no use fixing this issue after something bad happens. God forbid, if something happens, the city will have to hold themselves responsible for not taking action in a timely manner.
