Dear Jersey City Authorities,
I am the owner of Kimchi Guys located at 172 Newark Ave. In front of our restaurant, there is a bench installed near a tree about 3.5 meters from our entrance, where homeless individuals frequently gather.
Every morning around 10:30 AM when I arrive at work, I find these individuals already there drinking alcohol, sleeping on the bench, urinating, and leaving leftover food and trash on the ground. Since opening the business six months ago, we initially tried to accommodate their needs by providing utensils and straws. However, the situation has worsened to the point where we no longer feel safe or comfortable offering help.
These individuals are often intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, causing fear among our staff and customers. When we deny requests such as restroom use, we fear potential retaliation. Despite police visits to encourage restraint, they often ignore these warnings. We want to keep our glass doors open during the summer for ventilation, but the strong odor of urine makes it impossible.
On one occasion, a homeless man entered our premises and, after being denied restroom access, urinated inside the restaurant before leaving. Additionally, some have made threatening gestures, causing further discomfort.
We kindly request that the bench be removed to prevent these issues from continuing. Operating a new business in an expensive rental location is already challenging, and the current environment is severely impacting our operations and well-being.
We appreciate your prompt attention and support in resolving this matter.
Thank you very much.

Sidewalk ObstructionAcknowledged831 Newark Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07306 - Journal SquareBig Bazaar continues to illegally sell food products from the curb side of the sidewalk! This is a health and zoning issue. These are very clearly food products and it narrows a very busy sidewalk. I am providing a timestamped photo because for some reason every time the city goes to inspect, the products disappear only to reappear right after the inspector leaves. Residents are tired of these businesses being allowed to do whatever they want and bringing down our whole neighborhood and the corruption that seems to allow it to continue!.
