Ask a QuestionAnerkannt6th St & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownLeft Turn signals at 6th and Marin are needed. A busy intersection, coupled with multiple lanes turning, a little league field with pedestrians always crossing, and an impossible turn. This is needed and a no brainer.

Pedestrian Safety RequestAnerkanntBay St & Greene St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - The Waterfront
The pedestrian crossing at Bay St/Greene St is already incredibly dangerous, drivers fly down Greene St with no respect for pedestrians.
Recently a warning sign for drivers to slow down was placed in the crossing. Is it possible for this to be fixed to the road surface? When it is in the middle of the road, it does have some impact in forcing drivers to slow down but it is frequently knocked and moved around on the road.
I see near-misses between cars and pedestrians on this crossing nearly every day. Can something permanent be installed at the crossing to slow down the traffic - lane narrowing, etc.?

194 Wayne St Jersey City NJ 07302, United States - DowntownWayne Street between Monmouth Street and Brunswick Street is considered an Access Easement, but drivers frequently use it as a shortcut to skip the traffic light at Monmouth and Columbus Drive or a shortcut from Brunswick to Monmouth to avoid the traffic light at Montgomery Street. Drivers frequently race down this narrow access easement at high speeds. Previous signage indicating the status of Wayne Street is old and illegible at this point. Please consider posting new signage of the status of Wayne St., multiple speed bumps / humps, a reduced speed limit of 10 or 15mph, and additional enforcement.

Pedestrian Safety Study RequestAnerkannt686 Bergen Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - McGinley Square
Today I saw for the millionth time a pedestrian who waited until a break in cars, crossed into the marked crosswalk, but had fast-moving cars speed up dangerously and attempt to mow the walker down! This has also happened to me personally. This crosswalk has signs but no lights. It is not adequate for safety. Drivers do not stop! Drivers do not seem to understand how crosswalks work.
Here's information about a study that shows cars need to be moving slower than 20mph to reliably stop for a pedestrian as required in a crosswalk, regardless of signage or laws: https://usa.streetsblog.org/2023/01/11/want-drivers-to-stop-at-crosswalks-slow-them-down-first/
Please consider:
-lowering speed limit for stretch of Bergen between Communipaw and Montgomery
-marking crosswalks in this section with lights (currently only the ones in front of the school a few blocks down have flashing lights)
-ticketing more for crosswalk or speeding violations in this area
Thank you very much

With the parked cars on both sides on the street on Booraem, cars can’t see when someone is trying cross from Booraem to Abbett or vice versa. Can you please look into this and place lighting and a stop sign here?

Pedestrian Safety RequestAnerkanntPalisade Ave & Paterson Plank Rd Union City, NJ, 07087, USA - The HeightsThe signaling was recently redone on the corner of Paterson Plank Rd and Palisade Ave. Not only does there seem to be more car congestion and haphazard turning than before, but now pedestrians must wait for two complete traffic cycles to cross (which I just timed at 5:30pm to be approximately 4 minutes). This is leading to large groups of pedestrians waiting on these small, unsafe corners. The signaling is now a pedestrian all way, which while a great idea, only gives pedestrians about 16 seconds to cross. A few days ago I saw an elderly woman unable to make the full crossing of both streets in that amount of time. So, she waited, which means it took her nearly 9 minutes to traverse a single intersection. This is seriously negatively impacting the most vulnerable street users and completely disincentivizes pedestrian traffic. Please fix this—pedestrians should have the same priority as cars and be able to go after both ways of traffic go.
